Look everyone having a go at paddy yet not seeing the other things there is convicted wife beater playing for Watford Lee Hughes killed 2 people Luke McCormick killed 2 children yet they got a second chance ched Evans as well don't know what he did but he served his time and wants another chance Just for clarity, Ched Evans, a former Chester City youth player, was found not guilty in his retrial in 2016.

First thing I would take into consideration would be have they taken ownership of their crime. Lacey obviously has, but there again he had little choice. Any mitigating circumstances? A month before he was arrested, he had received a 14 month ban from football which had effectively left him unemployed. At his FA hearing his defence centred on an ongoing battle against depression and his use of drugs and alcohol as a means to self medicate. Now, I don't know how much of his defence was genuine but the FA did give him a reduced ban, if they accepted his version of events then maybe it was true. Has he learnt his lesson or shown contrition for his crime, again haven't a clue but Liam Watson, who knows him well, said he had - Watson is no mug, he spent nearly two decades working at Ashworth high security hospital - "One member of staff had his throat slashed when I was there, I was assaulted - I think everyone who has worked there has been assaulted. A lot of the patients were extremely volatile - committed criminals who had a mental illness or a personality disorder. There were high-profile patients, infamous murderers. Working at Ashworth gave me an insight that even good people can make mistakes. When things go wrong, people often turn their back on you, I know Paddy is a good person."
Doesn't excuse the man for committing a serious criminal offence, and dealing in Class A drugs is exactly that, no matter how low level it happens to be. But if they have taken ownership of their crime, shown contrition and have genuinely learnt their lesson, then maybe they might be offered a second chance?

Yes the thread has rapidly deviated. Was merely countering the bizarre point that some posters made about drug dealing not being that bad a crime just because he’s now a Chester player. Was the same on here with the whole Stopforth drink driving thing; interesting seeing the reaction on here to that compared with the reaction to James Gray and Dean Saunders. Are you in the camp of giving convicted criminals a second chance at rebuilding their career at Chester? You there Frank? Fancy nailing your colours to the mast on this one?

The real wind up merchant on here is FOP.
He riddles threads with counter likes on peoples posts to encourage them against eachother, has zero input of his own and then goes quiet when questioned on it.
Its truly embarrassing to watch, but it makes sense because he's always involved when a thread descends into nonsense.
Keep your eye on him mods and don't just do his talking for him like you do on the off topic

Really pleased we have got Luke Clark, Ethan Cartwright, and Iyrwah Gooden onboard as they have all shown potential throughout pre-season, so they deserve to be handed more chances this campaign. I don’t think these lads will be regular starters for us, although they will provide us with healthy options from the bench and will give us that strength in depth which we desperately need.
Centre midfielder and right back Luke featured for us at the beginning of pre-season where he shown glimpses of promise in both roles. He has previous EFL experience at Preston North End and Accrington Stanley, before dropping down into non-league where he made a number of appearances for the likes of Salford City and Curzon Ashton.
Midfielder Ethan, who I must admit confused me with Brad Jackson a couple of times due to the similar hairstyle and beard, has looked sharp whenever he has played. His previous experiences in the game include a spell at Hanley Town and a place in the England Schoolboys squad last year, so he must have something about him.
Striker Iyrwah will be on a dual-registration with both ourselves and Warrington Town for the new season so it’ll be interesting to see how that one works out. I reckon he will mostly spend his time at Warrington as he looks like an outsider in our team, although he would still be a handy option if needs be as he scored a few goals for Ramsbottom United last term. Welcome to Chester FC Luke, Ethan, and Iyrwah 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️!

Delighted we snapped Paddy Lacey up too because he will be a key player going forward. I personally believe that as a community club we should be giving players (such as Gary Roberts, Gary Stopforth, and now Paddy) a second chance to really prove they have overcome their mistakes. In no way, shape, or form am I condoning what he did because it was a very silly thing to do, although I am sure no one will be feeling more regretful than the man himself. The most important thing in life is to rectify the mistakes you commit (because we all make them), and to ensure you never do them again. Therefore I am confident Paddy has sorted himself out, hence I am glad we have given him another chance because otherwise, (not particularly referring to Paddy here) players may go on to do something very stupid again, and again, and again without employment. Onto the football side Paddy had a very good pre-season for us as he was tenacious in his play, and was also aggressive and skilful too. This is exactly the type of player we need, although Bern and Jonno will be scratching their heads regarding who starts in central midfield as him, George Glendon, and Declan Weeks are all quality. That is a good thing though as I’m delighted we have strength in depth, and am now feeling more optimistic about our chances this season. I said the other day that these trialists may prove to be the difference between us making the play-offs and missing out. Now we have snapped ALL of them up, we will be just fine. It’s now critical we get behind all of them, especially Paddy, be that for only a couple of months or the entire season, as they will all have big roles to play. Welcome to Chester FC Paddy 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️!

Are you in the camp of giving convicted criminals a second chance at rebuilding their career at Chester? You there Frank? Fancy nailing your colours to the mast on this one? May surprise you but I do have a life outside of Deva Chat. To answer your question, it’s a tricky one isn’t it? I can see the point that should a community club big on encouraging new breed of young supporters be associated with this guy? At the same time, he’s served his punishment and should be able to move on (as is the case with Adam Johnson). The reason I joined the discussion was simply to point out the glaring double standards when comparing certain crimes with an air of “oh it’s ok because he’s one of us!” about it, which is why I touched on the difference in reaction on here to Stopforth versus reaction to Gray and Saunders.

Many people deserve a second chance in life, we all make mistakes me included. Let's just give him his chance and take it from there.

So then, just to be clear, you aren't actually in favour of giving people second chances are you? Appropriate second chances, it is not appropriate to have a person in a position where they are looked up to by children, when they have committed crimes that kill and pray on their vulnerabilities. Genuine question, seen as though everyone on here seems to see in support of offering all players a second chance; would you welcome the signing of Adam Johnson to Chester Fc? Your conflation of drug dealers and paedophiles is utterly obtuse and I'm pleased to see you've been called out on it by others. Please proceed to giving your head a wobble. Do you have any evidence for your assertion that Lacey a) either cut his drugs with chemical agents, or b) was selling them to children? Also, cocaine doesn't kill very many people given its prevalence and if you want to end the careers of everyone who has done it, good luck with repopulating the workplaces and financial centres of London.

Centre midfielder Ethan Cartwright joined City Of Liverpool on a dual-registration yesterday. He made his debut in The Purps’ 1-0 success at home against Trafford last night, and I expect him to spend most of his time there where he will play more regularly. I was impressed with Ethan throughout pre-season and believe he is a bright young talent, so let’s hope he will boost his development even more up in Merseyside. Good luck Ethan!

Not impressed by this news as we should be looking to bring in someone who can challenge Livesey & Grand not Youth so it's a massive mistake from the duo

We’ve been in real need of another centre back, particularly a younger one, to provide competition so he will definitely fill this void. Harrison was hugely impressive against Tranmere Rovers’ first team in March and even more so for our Under-18’s, as he played an integral role in their recent successes. He is a lad who has shown plenty of promise, so let’s hope we will unleash that potential further down the line as there’s plenty more to come from him. All the best Harrison 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️!

Harrison Burke has signed a First Team Contract Having watched last nights stream, which was excellent, he looked a cut above the rest of the players on the pitch and appeared ready for men’s football
