From reading between the lines it would appear every club in the three leagues have confirmed they’re taking part in the playoffs, we seem to be the anomaly.

I'd have thought the National League will have set a date for us to decide whether or not we intend to play in the play offs. If we don't take part and someone takes our place surely they'd need time to decide whether they intend to play. Also if we do decide to take part then do the players need testing before they can train together prior to the first game? If that's the case we could be at a serious disadvantage if we end up being a week behind everybody else's preparations.
I really think we need to make a decision before this weekend otherwise it's not going to be worth us taking our place anyway. I know we need to clarify many points with the league before we can make a final decision, but surely every other team has had to do the same.

Makes me laugh how some of these clubs try to play down their budgets and play the “tight run ship” card, yet every single club has magically found circa 50k in the middle of a financial crisis.

Thats probably because its nowhere near 50k per game even if the players start training now and get all the way to the final. But that doesn't stop some clubs over egging the value needed to fundraise

But that doesn't stop some clubs over egging the value needed to fundraise I would imagine it would be above that level. You've got to get all staff off furlough for one, get the players training again (albeit with social distance measures applied) then regular testing, also putting cleaning regimes in place within the ground, changing rooms, ensuring everything is thoroughly cleaned afterwards as well.
Biggest costs are the testing, and player and staff wages without having any source of matchday income (as things stand). I believe talks are ongoing with BT Sport about televising the NLN and NLS play off games but nothing has been confirmed.

Let's look on the brightside, if we get beat by Alty in the first match it will only have cost us 50% of that first game.

All that considered, we had 8 games left to play and without any income if we completed the season we estimated it would cost in the region of 100k. So where does this mythical figure of 50k per playoff game come from? Unless it includes the loss of operating income I'm still not convinced. Anyway, its not a criticism of what we are doing, its more the games other clubs are playing, as I do not believe we have speculated how much money it will cost us, and neither should we.

I think the biggest issue here, regardless of how much it will cost, is how it will all be funded. When you consider some clubs in our league and the league above are doing fans/sponsors fundraisers to fund the playoffs and the Boreham Wood owner has apparently remortgaged his house to fund theirs, it’s a fair question for our board. It can only really come out of either the “rainy day” reserves (which we are led to believe currently stands at £100,000) or any excess raised above the £100,000 of the current fundraising campaign. It should NOT in any circumstances come out of next seasons normal budget.

We've already suggested that we THE FANS, pay an amount as if we were going to the match. Probably won't have to touch next year's money.

So, if we can find out exactly how much it will cost +/- a few hundred, then we should be consulted on it and if we need to divert some build the budget funds to have a go, then so be it.

Those who think we shouldn't go for it will still come back to support the team regardless, but a fair percentage of those who think we should take our place will no doubt be gutted by the lack of ambition and lose interest in a club that could be seen as less ambitious than Brackley.

Ive no doubt us fans/owners/sponsors will contribute well, and if there is a shortfall then I cant think of a better reason to dip into the rainy day fund.
To withdraw will leave a smaller fanbase, will affect recruitment and possibly lead to the managers looking elsewhere.

If we don't go for it, that will be IT for a percentage of the fan base. Every other team can manage but not us? I truly hope that we do play.

Tend to agree. The National League have a lot to answer for though as well as some of the clubs who are very keen to play like Havant. Part time clubs are being forced to take part in a ridiculous scenario that they can not afford. Club Boards feel the pressure of sections of their support and feel they have to do something even if it is against their better judgement.

Another concern is the possible cost of a game at York.
Their Chairman us quoting £120k for 1 or 2 matches. I know their wage bill is comparitively huge, but how much just to put a match on? We'd get stung for half the costs. Who checks this?

How could their wage bill possibly be so high for 1 or 2 games, it has to be complete bollocks

Surely we dont get stung for any costs relating to their playing/admin staff, wages, covid testing etc. The costs are associated with putting the game on. Getting the ground ready costs on the day. No gatemen no stewards but probably a covid officer or two. Hope I'm correct in this assumption

Not sure where the game would take place, Bootham Crescent or the new ground but there was a photo taken inside Bootham Crescent recently doing the rounds looking a right overgrown and unkept mess already. Would surely cost a fair bit to tidy it up fit for staging matches again even behind closed doors.

My understanding is that they have been unable to obtain a safety certificate to date, as stadium tests cannot take place until the rules re large gatherings are relaxed.
