I think it's a lack of understanding of the level they are at. Throwing resources at it will help them get to where they want to be eventually, but it's not always achievable straight away. There are established clubs that know what it takes at that level, with settled squads and managers who have had time to build understanding amongst the players etc. Also, they'll be seen as a scalp because of the money they have spend so teams will raise their game to prove a point sometimes. It took FGR a good few years of throwing money at it to eventually just get out of the National League. I saw the last interview with Wellens which did strike me as a man who didn't have much idea about how to turn things around and was throwing his players under the bus rather than analysing his own performance, but they saw fit to appoint him a matter of months ago so surely they knew the kind of man and manager he is. Indeed. I'm sure I've bored people saying this before, but I think any club that finds itself sacking two managers in a season has problems that go beyond the manager.

Former Chester player Jon Brady now manager of Northampton Town. Not heard that name since the early 2000's.

Well he was Brackley’s manager for six years more recently - would’ve been in opposing dugout at the Deva a couple of times.

Good to see our mates at Chesterfield spending again. Kairo Mitchell from King's Lynn for undisclosed fee.

To be fair it’s up to them what they do with it, isn’t it? Their choice to take a loan to spend on players, isn’t that pretty much how 99% of football clubs operate?
I’m glad we do what we do, of course.

Manny Oyeleke, Port Vale to Chesterfield undisclosed fee. The spree goes on! They were millions in debt only a season or 2 ago. They had 1 player on 4k a week in their first season in the National, they even had to pay him off. This will only end badly and quicker if they don't get promoted.

I see the Goats have released Elliott Durrell, wouldn't be surprised to see him end up here. One Elliott for another?

Always been a talented player and his attitude seemed spot on with us too. Did well with Macclesfield. Would provide some good competition with Johnston on that side, although not convinced we could carry both with our budget.

If he was to leave Durrell would be a great replacement. My inkling is Brad stays.

On his day he's one of the best in the league but he really needs a good pre season where he stays free of injury and trims his weight down a bit. Only issue may be wages, as I'm sure he was one of the ones who was given a deal when the Stuart Murphy money was still on the table, so no doubt he'd need to take a drop.

I think he's a fitness trainer. There seems to be a few players who are fitness trainers or have similar bulked up physiques. Often they seem to have injuries. I'm not sure that doing constant weights/training to muscle up is good for footballers. There's a conflict of muscle requirements. In Brad's case I think he'd be quicker if he lost a bit of physique. Did he lose pace this season? Or was that just the impression from watching on a tablet?

I thought he was just showing signs of getting back to form before he got injured again he’s been a bit unlucky.

A sudden bulking up might explain his injuries then as his body adapts. Not sure if he's lost pace, or maybe he's not 100% pushing himself when sprinting as he's wary of injury. A full pre season so important for him.

I see Cameron Mason has left Curzon Ashton. Best keeper I have seen in this league. Would be a great addition to the squad.
