The huge risk for clubs is that the new season is also suspended, and not completed. It's unlikely there will be another furlough scheme. Clubs would be prudent to include a 'covid clause', to avoid paying players when games are unable to be played. If they don't, that might be the end of half the clubs at lower levels. May sound harsh, but the alternative would be administration for clubs to avoid having to complete contracts. Given the news from Greater Manchester last night, can't see a normal season ahead. Whether that's reduced attendance, or minimal attendance, or no attendance. Think the enforced local lockdown in northern areas where there is a high Muslim population on the eve of Eid Mubarak is a political decision by this government more than anything else. Can’t go to relatives houses (which is a big thing during Eid) but can go shopping, pub, restaurant etc. so I wouldn’t be too worried about that.

Andrew Murray Burnham is a British Labour Party politician who has served as Mayor of Greater Manchester since 2017. As Mayor, he was central to the decision, and unless he is part of an imminent transfer rumour, then I suggest your post is political propoganda rather than football related, and should be deleted by the moderators.

It’s a direct response to the previous post referring to lockdown in a region close to us and what impact that may have on the club operating. Wind your necks in. The point is people are still allowed to go out to meet in pubs, restaurants, shops etc etc so presume football grounds would be OK.
I think the only issue some of you have is not with politics, but with politics that you don’t agree with x

He was always a solid dependable 6/7 out of 10 and you need those in your team.

Released by us only to move up to the FL, replaced by probably the worst Chester left back I've ever seen in Lathaniel Rowe-Turner. Another great bit of business from you know who!

I thought Hunt left because of his differences of opinion with McCarthy. As regards Joel Taylor, I would like to see him move forward to a wing back role, fitting Jamie Morgan in behind him. That would give us wider strength on both sides with Taylor and Jackson, two quality full backs, and allow transfer focus on the central spine of the team, given our limited budget.

I liked Johnny hunt but always thought he played a bit narrow given how suspect we were from crosses

Heard the same about Hunt leaving. Not sure about Jamie Morgan at left back. Also I'm not a fan of pushing full backs into midfield. It's a different game. Taylor would have far less space to run forward into, and likely have a man right behind him every time he gets the ball. Taylor and Morgan should be very effective as wing backs. Problem is, when we tried that formation last pre-season we were awful. We looked best last season using Dudley to move inside and create space for Taylor to go charge forward. Kev Roberts tucked in and made a three to cover for him.

Never been a fan of full backs running forwards, particularly at this level where players regularly get dispossessed and a punt upfield by the opposition leaves glaring gaps at the back, hence my thoughts on a full back/ wing back combo.

I'm the same. Must be an age thing! Think it's something that should happen more as the game opens up, if you're not winning. Not sure why you need a winger and an overlapping fullback. That's why I didn't really get the Johnston signing. Should be one or the other, like Jackson and Roberts on the other wing.

Thirteen released by York, including Steve McNulty, Andy Bond and Dan Maguire.
Eight more in discussion.
Looks like they are starting from scratch in the new ground!

Couple of blows for York as Alex Kempster and David Ferguson both reject new contracts. The former has decided to join South Shields instead, strangely.

Their fans on twitter are baffled in to why he's been released Still plenty of time to develop into a really top midfielder but needs much more game time with older heads around him. Physically not the strongest but with someone to do the dirty stuff alongside him he could be a real asset. Would love to see him back but think he might aim higher. Good luck Tom wherever you end up.

Good luck Tom wherever you end up. Toughened up a lot. Great energy in the middle, and a little height. He would be PERFECT alongside Glendon in our midfield. Unfortunately (for us) I think his destination is higher up the pyramid than NLN.

But yeah Hartlepool, Chesterfield and Fylde also want him. The lads come a long way from stacking the shelves in B&M on the Greyhound!

Spennymoor are spending more - signed Adriano Moke on a two-year deal.
Meanwhile Ryan Astles has signed for TNS, not even the best team in Wales anymore.

Crawford is a good player, he'll have better options than us but we're definitely right to put ourselves in the frame. He might fancy being back home, especially with all the uncertainty at present. Worth a go!
