A trip to Old Trafford/Anfield would set us up for years, so I’m afraid I’d have to respectfully disagree with you. I cant disagree with that statement I'm astounded you are on the side of billionaires though Of course I’m not, I just think your thinking that clubs like us boycotting the FA Cup will stick it to the “Big Six” is ridiculous.

Love the F A cup, and yes it would set you up for years, even a good run can set the next season up, but the 18 would probably only enter at the round of 32 with the 14 survivors.
For 'big' managers and clubs that have won no silverware for a few seasons, the competition would become really devalued, would be a crime to ruin this great competition, but we can cow tow and join in, or protest to try and save it.
At the end of the day though, if all this comes off, they will be able to do what they want anyway, if they want to destroy the history of the domestic competitions they will, that is what is frightening.

Of course it wouldn't but something has to done or English football will be the same as Scottish football half a dozen massive teams and the rest part time no hopers the EFL have to stand up to the FA somehow

Very shabby and selfish behaviour from Liverpool and Man Utd. The big clubs have been trying to reduce the number of clubs in the Premiership and abolish the League Cup for sometime. To use the financial plight of the EFL to get these things which will increase their wealth and power is disgusting.
The proposals are very bad news for non league football. Two fewer teams in the Football League and a much larger gap in external financial support between L2 and National League clubs can only be bad for those outside of the league. There are over 300 clubs at Steps 1 to 4 so obviously the Big Picture does not include these clubs.

Leyton Orient chairman reckons it’ll be a life-saver for EFL clubs who he thinks will go pop within four to six weeks if there’s no government help. Think he’s just seen the short-term dollar signs in his eyes to be honest.

Think he’s just seen the short-term dollar signs in his eyes to be honest. The trouble is the Government decided it was up to the Premier League to bailout the EFL. Now the greedy and rich who own the top clubs are trying to turn this to their advantage.

A huge gap in funding between League 2 and the National League which will make promotion to League 2 virtually impossible without a rich benefactor

The worrying thing is it seems a lot of EFL chairmen are in favour of it, simply because of the lure of short-term cash. The move is cynically timed.

The more I've thought about it,an idea occurred that in the 'long' term it could benefit non-league football in some ways.
At the moment the PL have a 'tie' to the EFL, through parachute payments and the rest, mainly because there is promotion and relegation between the two, they have to give ex members a golden handshake and share their wealth with 3 new boys each season. Sorry I can't be bothered to research the amounts ( so ballpark ) but say this figure is £100M and the PL is also shamed into giving say £10M to grass roots football by the FA, then hopefully if the PL/EFL tie is broken, the PL may be able to support the 'wider' game, whilst still saving lots of money, because if they can help keep this alive and protect competitions such as the F A cup, then why would they want to give money to large Championship clubs as they do now.
One big problem for a more 'elite, league though is what happens if one of the 18 fall on bad times and become whipping boys season after season, 5,000 off the attendance every time any one plays them, how do you get rid of them and who replaces them? At least in Scotland, Rangers had a path back.

However, could this be the first stage of instigating an US style "franchise system" as exists in the States. Particularly given the ownership of the clubs behind the project! No promotion/relegation, transfer of clubs to other towns/cities etc.

No promotion/relegation, transfer of clubs to other towns/cities etc. Maybe all the teams will transfer to London. Be easier to sign players that way. Ironic that two 'people's clubs' in Liverpool and Man Utd are the drivers behind this. US based owners only want clubs for the commercial and tv incomes. You're spot on regarding the franchise idea. Guarantees their income for life.

They resigned their membership in 1992 to join the newly formed Premier League. It is not their competition to abolish, they only enter by invitation, if they don't want it then don't enter to play in it. Simples!

The ‘big six’ being expelled from the Premier League by the other 14 clubs would be amusing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Probably one of the most sickening things is that the majority of those who don't care if they destroy our national game or have little real understanding of it's heritage and place in our social fabric are foreign billionaires. How can anyone, least of all the F A allow this to happen? having said that, plenty of the 'fans' of these 'mega' clubs will blindly go along with it as 'a good idea', just as long as their club produces a little bit of new 'merch' to celebrate the deal.

You say that, but it was refreshing to see the main supporters groups from all the big six condemn the new plans and unanimously oppose them.

Seems moves afoot (yet again) to form European Super League with £4.6bn funding from JP Morgan. Main English instigators are.... wait for it...... Liverpool and Man U As with other attempts it may well founder but they're certainly not giving up. OK, the repercussions may be far reaching for everyone else but, personally, I think we all may be better off without them (+ the 2/3 others who may be in the mix)

So whatever happened to the generosity of the Premier League, FA, Sky, etc...
Remember during lockdown when those in charge said how much they sympathized with the supporters with the fans and put games on the bbc and on Pick so that we could watch football for free?
Now every game is on Sky apart from the ones they’re trying to charge fifteen quid for.
Is it any wonder that teams like Macclesfield go to the wall when the game is so biased in favour of the Premier League.

They'd still compete domestically as well.
In an ideal world they want two less Premier League teams and the League Cup + Community Shield scrapped to make the fixture list more manageable.
