I think that is the main problem - people who seemingly are unable to handle going 1-0 down in a game without acting like the world is about to explode. Match threads after a game like yesterday are enjoyable to read with good analysis. But then you look at the Worksop match thread and even some pre-season friendly threads and you have posters banging on about 'Bill and Ben' and calling for the heads of the managers because we're losing midway through a game - its cringeworthy. I don't think anyone has an issue with reasonable criticism, but unfortunately more often than not its just obscene levels of over-reaction. Agree 100%, but i would add to that, the fact that there are certain other posters who then like those posts, whether they actually like them or just want to click like in the heat of the moment, who knows... but what i do know is that it pisses people off even more. It's not just confined to the match threads either. As i said, people creating posts on an internet forum is a basic necessity, otherwise we might as well rename it a 'like-board' The down side is that this thread is full of posts saying more or less the same thing.

There will always be threads like that, but I'd prefer to know someone's exact opinion, than just assume they 100% agree with someone else's post just because the clicked like on it. I know people would find it a dent to their ego not to get emails telling them other users have liked their post, but I honestly think its for the best!

Really think some people might be over thinking the "like" button, I find it useful to say that I agree with someone's post or to thank people who've responded to a question or put together a really well thought out post or match report. I can't see that people are brigading the site with it to meet an agenda or using it to annoy others. I feel like this might be a case of people finding problems that aren't there. The idea of people having damaged egos etc, seems mad but perhaps I'm not looking at this site in the way that others are.
Also why the hell would anyone have email settings on for notifications from this site? You'd never have a moments peace some nights.
I'd like to see it back but if it means that much to others I can live without it.

Perhaps he doesn’t get enough? Perhaps, also, he doesn’t get enough likes? Wahey! I’m here all week.

Not a huge deal but also interesting to see when a post gets multiple likes, purely as an indicator re the general mood of the board. How about a dislike option also😎? As an aside we do seem to have a few control freaks on here, who are trying to dictate the shape of debate. Match threads aside, which are bound to boil over occasionally if we lose or play badly, I think the forum works ok on the whole. Si's tutorial on how to use the block function can also only help.

I noticed a poster luke90 suggest there was a way to make that happen, he must be a HTML wizard so fingers crossed it can be introduced. It should add a more balanced way to communicate

Surely a better way to communicate is to tell someone you don't like their post and why?

Ditto for the like button 👍 Possibly, yes, and I can live without the like button. However, nobody minds their posts being liked. If they keep getting passive-aggressive dislikes from the same people though, I could see it spilling over.

Why are you so desperate for the like function to be removed?
I think all the rest of us should agree to give one like each to an Oaksy post, the poor guy feels left out!

I literally couldn't give a shit who likes or dislikes my posts, which is why I suggest the recipient of the like/dislike doesn't know who gave it. This is a thread about devachat and how its users wish it could work in the future, so im suggesting things from my point of view. Do you have any suggestions or do you just want to continue to criticise other people's suggestions?

Hahaha it really makes me laugh tbh, when this forum started it was supposed to be an open forum for fans from any club with any opinion. Well that soon stopped as we went into lock down well before Covid 😂 and it became members only, recently the next stage kicked in with threats of bans for anyone bullying. How do you bully someone on a football forum ? if you are that precious then don't post, for me it is going the same was as the old forum and I might as well stayed on that 😂😂😂😂

We don’t walk in each other’s shoes so we don’t know what mental health issues someone else might have or be going though so let’s just show everyone some respect we can still agree or disagree with each other’s opinions but it can be done without acting like the playground bully.

And to prove a lot of posters points on here, the usual suspects who only post when we lose have, as expected not appeared on the Curzon thread after we’ve won. As much as some will try to give an alternate case for them surely you can see how it looks when they only post when we lose!
By the way, I’m not looking to start a row, I just think this is the perfect thread to highlight a lot of people’s point re posters high jacking threads with the usual tripe after a loss.

There are always rules on what you can and can't say, not just on this forum, but everywhere in life.
It was designed to be more relaxed in terms of moderation than the last one, and still is in my opinion.

What has how they view the world differently got to do with it? I’m talking about how people view Chester. I post about Chester win, lose or draw and always try to provide balance. The sympathisers are the ones who say things like ‘everyone’s entitled to their own opinion’ and its would be a boring place if we all agreed’ - A good forum is one with balance, you as an example post after losses and wins and give reasoned debate. Frank posts after wins and losses and although doesn’t always provide reasoned debate, he gives balance 😉 As I’ve said in the past, would it be that bloody hard to at least post saying ‘well done’ or ‘good win’ after a positive result so that the ones who think they’re only here for the losses can at least think they want us to win, unless of course they don’t!

If your offended, either don’t come on here or get some pubes

It could be that people are not posting because of the bullying and abuse that occurs when they dare to have a different opinion. I have now blocked the 4 antagonists so will now be able to see a more reasoned and adult debate.

Instead of getting offended and blocking people, why not debate them? Isn’t that the more adult thing to do?

I doubt anyone is going to top themselves over what they read on this forum, but I'm sure it could get them down and mean they stop posting, and brings the tone of the discussion down.

Honestly, if this place was a pub it would have closed ages ago with neanderthal comments like this. Best advice you can follow is to speak to people online the same way you would in person, and if you still can't be civil then you might as well get a ban like you would be kicked out of someone's house or pub...
