Mahon was basically like he's been since Oakwell in 2014.
Good performance. Even while it was 1-1 I was thinking there's not a lot you could criticise about our performance. Glendon on another level, best I've seen from JJ, Roberts and Taylor both good at full back. Only qualm you can have is that we need to take chances.
Glad about that!

Those two central midfielders didn’t waste a ball all night. To celebrate I’m off to Swettenhams chemist for a flu jab in my latest Kappa clobber.

Early days I know but it would have been a great day out at Gloucester on Saturday as a top of the table clash.

We made hard work of that. We need far more composure in the final third.Far too many misplaced passes and poor decision making, is why we cant translate poccession into goals We should have been out of sight. Weeks and Glendon were excellent. And Glendon deserved that goal for a man of the match performance.

Much better performance but how many chances do we need 😊 we really need to secure Declan Weeks before he is snapped up from under us. All in all a good performance from the team and Saturday is a must win for us 😊👍

Another solid performance from a good young keeper, defence excellent, Weeks and Glendon outstanding. Elliot off his best game but still looks dangerous, Waring won lots of flicks, held the ball up well a couple of times but has a lot of questions to answer. Wingers are so fast that if they had more end product we would score a sackful every week. 4 league games, 9 points and could easily have 12. Saturday's almost forgotten - wins make it all feel better 😊

Weeks and Glendon were excellent. And Glendon deserved that goal for a man of the match performance. Up to a point. We had a little dip around 60 minutes and they scored a quality goal. I thought we were in trouble then but we got back on the front foot and deserved the win. Even a draw would have been a travesty. Finishing could have been better but we can't afford an Asante, or even a Knowles it seems. Elliot is getting better but he'd not the finished article in terms of finishing or decision making. Thought Waring did OK. He's never going to be prolific but he was a handful and I don't think Elliot prospers on his own upfront. After the abject show on Saturday, got to say well done to the players and management tonight. For me the jury is still out but no doubt they got the right reaction. What frustrates the hell out of me is that when you see them play with that sort of freedom and movement, I think we could easily have gone to somewhere like Colchester with the pressure off and caused a shock. It was also good to see Jackson looking more like his old self but there will be occasions when playing both him and Johnston doesn't come off. Anyway, onwards and upwards. Great start to the (league) season.

Agree, it still annoys me seeing Jackson shunted out of position - he’s our best player. Saying that Johnston probably has his best game for us tonight, much improved. Their number 15 looked really lively when he came in, fortunately too late in the game. As I said at half time our central midfield pair are nailed on and you can see why - both class tonight. Our squad on paper is way better than last seasons, great improvement but we need to do all we can to definitely keep hold of Weeks, Bauress and Lacey (the other three freebies aren’t going to be near the starting lineup). We really need to start taking all the chances we create, better sides than Curzon will punish us - we should’ve had the game wrapped up well before their equaliser. Still, a wins a win and goes some way to exorcising the demons of Saturday’s horror show.

It would have been a travesty if we hadn't won that game. We controlled the game and it was only through sloppy play in the final third that we didn't put a few past them. I can't fault the positions Jacko and JJ are taking up because they are getting in the danger areas but the quality into the box from them just isn't there at the moment. Frustratingly there were a few times early doors where it was badly exposed that we didn't have a left footed winger as there was plenty of space that we were exploiting but Jacko doesn't have the confidence to beat his man and drill it across the box as he would on his right foot. I still think that balance isn't quite right with a right footed left winger, and it's certainly nullified Jacko who was our best player before JJ came in last season - play your best players in their best positions. JJ had another frustrating night.....was involved plenty but nothing really coming off for him - having said that he got his assist at least, which was a calm and measured bit of play from him which might be a bit of a lesson to not try so hard to do everything.
Glendon was light years ahead of anyone on the pitch. Weeks was also excellent alongside him and they ran the midfield together, but seriously Glendon has been on a different level this season. First thought is always to try and pass forwards but he simply doesn't waste a ball - if there is a better passer of the ball at this level I'm yet to him. His vision was outstanding tonight, and the goal was well deserved and capped off a faultless night for him.
Happy to see Elliot back on the scoresheet too. He didn't get too many clear cut chances tonight but he worked the channels well at times and took his goal nicely. Waring wasn't great, but not awful either, but for a big guy he's gotta be holding on to the ball a bit better for my liking. Weirdly once Waring went off we suddenly started putting loads of crosses in, some of which would have suited Waring nicely.
Anyway, the three points were deserved, and the overall team performance was good and sets up an interesting looking game at Gloucester. No reason why we can't go there with some confidence - I feel like we're not too far away from things clicking attacking wise and I do fancy us to give someone a spanking sometime soon given some of the chances we're creating.
On the subject of the streaming, I had some issues with my Samsung tv. I tried to access via the tv internet browser but once the stream was on it kept refreshing itself every few seconds. Ended up watching on my tablet instead which was seamless. Anyone else had this problem? It's a 2020 Samsung TV so wouldn't expect any compatibility issues with the browser.

He decided to go elsewhere after being offered a renewed contract. I'd have happily kept him had Taylor left for Harrogate. Waters had a really decent game I thought. What's the deal with Lacey? I thought he was going to be our main midfield enforcer but he's back from suspension and can't even get on the bench?

Still, thanks to the streaming I'm getting to watch games with a glass of wine in hand from 240 miles away so not all bad. Done a few night games and the drive back is the killer mid week.

Unless there's a rethink on the bail out we must have a huge black hole in the budget. I guess we will find out over the next week (s) how it's going to impact but I'd be surprised if we don't see movement out, or at least players like Matty Hughes going on loan. Dudley is another who seems to have dropped off the radar.

Jonno’s post match interview tonight is worth a watch. We were shit on Saturday, we all know that, but tonight we are second in the league with some players not even on a contract. We are in the midst of a global pandemic, without the “luxury” of a rich benefactor. The very reason we are 2nd in the league and able to play football is down to us as individuals and our collective efforts over the last few months. Jonno in his interview summarises it perfectly about what this club is all about.

Score flatters Curzon, we should have put away four or five really. Curzon put away their only decent chance, a 30 yarder which Gray pushed away was the only other one I can remember.
Weeks and Taylor were good tonight but Glendon was on another level. He looks like he’s relishing the captaincy, he’s more of an intelligent and instructing one rather than a beat your chest type. I watched him closely at the Marine friendly last month and he looked like he was absolutely loving it, his body language was different to last season, more out of his shell.
Johnston was good tonight as well but still feel he takes too many touches and often doesn’t release the ball early enough. He’s literally fine margins away, but regardless he was really dangerous as was Jackson although being placed on the left clearly takes a lot out of his game.
Matty Hughes worth a mention as well, gave us a lift when he came on.
Great reaction after Saturday.

There wasnt really any end product from either Jackson or JJ. Jj frustrates me in that He has pace and technque but his decision needs to improve. I would prefer Jacksons more direct style on the right Both need to improve their goal tally. Also, I think Waring and Elliott are the best partnership upfront., as Elliott cannot play as a targetman and needs Waring's up there with him to take the pressure off him. You also need Warings height to defend set pieces because we are bot a big side and are highly susceptible from corners. Also, if Lloyd Marsh Hughes is not going to be on the bench. Then he needs to be sent out on loan. If we have to cut the budget we may need the likes of him Goodwin and Burke to fill out the squad.

Really enjoyed tonight, I thought everyone put in a decent shift, would like to see Elliot take one less touch sometimes and go for goal sooner like he did for his goal, Waring won't be everyone's cup of tea but this season he's had a few off the line and woodwork. Tonight I was impressed by his holding up and laying off, he's the only one who really offers that. Thought M Hughes looked good when in he came on.
jono touched on it in the post match but for us to come out of that game with that many yellows is annoying 3 players booked for first offence. Still 2nd in the League. UTS.

For me the team need to be more focused at times, how many times when we are in the lead do we sit deep or a sub comes on and we concede a gaol, we also need to work on our finish. This is a decent squad but it needs work yet, like Jonno says when it comes together they will be awesome, COYB 🤞😉

If we could continue to play like that more often than not and convert more of our chances then we’d be able to maintain our current league position for a bit longer than last year and make a sustained promotion push (with a team that, dare I say it, has the basis of being a solid NL team were we successful). I do worry however that it’s not long before the likes of Weeks and some of our other “non contract” players will get poached.
