There was a thread on the main football chat which got me thinking purely out of surprise of the amount of responses that seem to suggest that white people can experience racism and racial prejudice - this is something I personally have never considered to be a real thing except in the minds of far-right goons who launch online attacks against certain prominent BAME politicians on the left.
This is not intended to descend into petty arguments but just a genuine debate on the subject.
FWIW I believe that “Racism” only works because one group has power and other groups do not - historically, and still to this day, in the West that power is with white people. Prejudices against ethnic minorities have far-reaching negative effects when you consider “stop and search”, education, healthcare and career prospects. White people are not affected by this institutionalised prejudice in the West.
Be interested to see an opposing argument.

The very simple fact that anyone has to refer to the colour of someone's skin, when talking to or about someone makes it racism.

Depending on the source, white people make up maybe 10% of the world's population. This figure is falling rapidly as better healthcare, food and vaccines lead to greater population growth in Africa, India, South America etc. You live in the most densely populated part of the planet for white people, northern western Europe.
The more you travel, the more you'll see that your white skin is worth far less than you think.

Wrong on all counts. I see you’ve only just registered for this forum very recently and you’ve only made about eight posts but 90% of them seem to be haranguing me and you quite obviously know who I am (or you think you do because the “chicken factory” stuff is going over my head) so if youhave an issue, PM me but don’t sully the board with personal gripes. Oaks Blue - considering we’ve blocked each other and I can only see your posts when someone else quotes you, I hope you understand what the block function actually entails and start to utilise it properly 👍🏻 Let’s get back on topic and have an adult debate. Who do you think you are telling me or anyone else how to use this forum. The sooner the mods deal with you once and for all instead of constantly locking threads and making apologies for the way you communicate to others the better. They know what you are like, they know you will never change, so they just let you get away with it, if your name was whopper 3 and they didn't know you personally you'd have been chucked off DC1 years ago Stop obsessing over him! Block him, ignore him.....I don't understand why you constantly follow him around the board when you had supposedly blocked him. Please please just ignore him as you advised someone else to do, its so boring reading the same thing.

Please please just ignore him as you advised someone else to do, its so boring reading the same thing. Stop making apologies for him, locking threads that HE derails, and get a grip of the WUM once and for all. You yourself said you know what he's like, yet you continue to put the onus on ME when clearly HE is the problem. You are both capable of posting sensibly though, but you both derail threads by sniping at each other even since you apparently blocked him. I dont know why its so hard for you to ignore him. It seems a bit unhealthy, let it go, there is plenty more important things to be irritated by in the world than someone you don't agree with on a non league football forum. I don't wanna be banning Chester fans - as I say, we all know Mancot enjoys dropping the odd grenade but you give him the audience. I really wouldn't want to ban Mancot who is a die hard Chester fan just because a few people get a bit wound up by him. I would honestly say more people get wound up by you and him going at it all the time, because that is what gets threads shut down.

Couple of things: - I reckon the chances are pretty high that the people who have voted yes to this are almost certainly the same people who bang on about 'woke' and 'PC madness' and spend most of their day calling people snowflakes. The suggestion that being called 'white' is racist is such an obvious and laughable attempt to minimise the serious problems faced by the BAME community by attempting to elevate white people's suffering to that of others. Which of course flies in the face of all empirical evidence, historical facts and just general common sense. - Oaks Blue - this whole "bin the off-topic because nobody reads it" when you quite obviously do, is just bizarre. Akin to a child who is told not to touch the broken glass but just keeps doing it anyway. - What on earth is this chicken factory stuff? Did FOPB actually work there or is it just being used as a vile classist insult? If you think laughing at people or taking the piss out of them for working in a chicken factory is cool then you need to pull your head out your own arse and quick. It's a dangerous path when a 2 tiered system is 'allowed' and never seems to end well.... given all empirical evidence. Why did Mancot feel it was OK to mention colour yesterday? It was unnecessary and is not OK. Same as it is not OK to have a 2 tiered policing system for BLM/Extinction Rebellion compared to say Lockdown protestors. Division only leads to anger and violence. Yes the BAME community have problems which need to be addressed and this has been a work in progress for years. Lately, working class white people (and the working class in general to be accurate) don't seem to have the 'privilege' that is claimed they automatically have by the 'progressive' left. Who's working for their interests? Not the Tories, not Labour....nobody.

The very best achievers in the UK are proven to be from Indian heritage. Possibly poorer areas may have education and healthcare issues - like Halton which is 90%+ white. Also, it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against a person based on their skin colour. I don't know about stop and search, but I would imagine this is done in areas where most stabbings and shootings take place. You would probably be surprised to learn that the UK is one of the least racist countries. Ironically, places like India and many African countries are *general highly racist and intolerant of diversity. *according to a study by the Washington Post

I would say to some extent it is, because protests are allowed if organised officially and some attempt is made to follow social distancing and mask wearing protocols. The idea being that the right to protest is essential and trumps the need to follow strict lockdown conditions.
Lockdown protesters are different because they are a) ignoring social distancing, masks etc. as a lot of them think the whole thing is a hoax and b) protesting against a rule by breaking it. It's like, for example, protesting against marijuana being illegal by smoking it in public. That won't be tolerated as a protest and will just be seen as breaking the law, so you have to find a different way to protest it.

Ironically, places like India and many African countries are *general highly racist and intolerant of diversity. *according to a study by the Washington Post I don't really get the whole hoohar over stop and search myself. I was stopped and searched a few years ago, it seems they'd had reports of a big bearded white bloke loitering around people's houses. I cooperated with them and the whole thing was over in five minutes. Not really a big deal at all. I do think the UK police has some problems with race though. Two of my mates from school are now bobbies, and I've been quite shocked at some of the things I've heard them say to each other about black people and other groups. They never used to be like that. I get the impression that officers are told that thinking about the roots of crime is someone else's job and that their response should be an entirely reactionary one. Look at Paul Evans as well and his Facebook posts, decades working as an officer certainly didn't seem to broaden his mind much.
