out that money but a striker Defender * We lost because we are not good enough to compete with the so called better teams. Too many goals conceded by basic errors and lack of player concentration. As soon as the ball is out of play then you pick up and switch on, it is not rocket science just a he basics of football. You could expect to see teams in the West Cheshire conceding some goals like this but not at our level. Defensively not good enough but also little alternative.

Played well BUT did not take their chances and the let a silly goal in. Got to get that sorted. This team is essentially OK. Certainly play-offs. BUT..... Can’t see us being good enough for playoffs currently - reckon we’d get in ahead of one or two of York, Boston, Gateshead, Spenny, Chorley, Kiddy? Gloucester too, depending on the impact of manager and best player moving on. Mind you, this season is all about still having a club next summer.

Disappointing but we're unlikely to be anywhere near York at the end of the season. They're level on points with us now but with 3 games in hand.
All the play-off chasing sides we've played of late just seem to have that edge on us over 90 mins.

Tough start to be fair, we started steady then the Covid break has really unsettled our rhythm.

Deserved at least a draw from that. Problem is were always capable of creating chances. But it's the defensive lapses I'm starting to worry about.

the whole of the defence has mistakes right through it. 1st half Grand and Livesey very nearly messed it up between them. Their 1st goal the player had far too much room outside the box on that corner, nobody really closed him down. God only knows how Morgan let the winner into the net on the post. We were in that game throughout and could have won it. But if you cannot even do the basics like defending corners (both goals were from corners) and you cannot even defend the post from a corner, you are never going to get anywhere

Listening to Seals Live it sounded like, yet again, we were "unlucky". But, on how many occasions do we have to be "unlucky" until it becomes a cause for concern especially when we concede from set pieces with incredible regularity? This makes every game a potentially uphill task as, more often than not, we have to score just to maintain parity at least.
At the moment, we look like and perform like a mid table outfit, occasionally good, quite often average to poor.
That said, we've just completed a tough run of games. But we really need a confidence boosting run of results if this blip is not to become a slump
Over to the managers and players.......

Defensively we're a mess. Always sloppy goals we seem to be conceding. Do we need to look at changing up the centre back pairing and put Kev Roberts in there for a game or two? Something has got to give really hasnt it. Cant expect to keep up a play off hunt when we're conceding stupid goals every other week

Taylor needs replacing.

We can create all these chances but if we’re not capable of doing the basics the got exactly what we deserved. Agree. I don't buy all this "we deserved a draw" stuff. If you let in two and score one, you don't deserve anything.

How we lost that I’ll never know no doubt all the degenerates be out in force now buzzing at the fact we lost Seriously, you don’t know? Just read all the posts on this thread. Can’t do the basics, lose too many goals from set pieces. Can’t defend corners. Miss too many chances. You don’t need to be a degenerate to be able to read the truth. No doubt, we keep repeating the same errors. Glad you enjoyed it though!

Didn't think that they were noticeably any better than us, other than perhaps in defence. I felt that the only threat that they possessed was our inability to defend set pieces. A draw would have been a fair result.

What worries me is that despite the experience we have in defence still this ability to concede silly goals worries me should of only kept one of livesy or grand midfield is class upfront too light I'm afraid maybe worth Roberts playing in centre of defence oh well

Wow a fair few over reactions today anyone would think we had just lost 5-0 I know it’s frustrating losing by the odd goal but it’s a bit ott today.

That doesn't necessarily mean the problem is easy to solve.

One clean sheet all season and poor defending on set pieces and constantly allowing teams back in the game....our problem is defending. This team always has a goal in it just need to tighten up at the back

Maybe we need to play Burke at some point. Let's face it, playing 3 experienced defenders isn't exactly working a treat.

Whats this rumour that Taylors gone? Apparentley been reported in Chesterfield press today it would explain his absence We should be asking if they have a defender (centre half) that we can take on loan. Thought we played well today but we are conceding too many goals...can't just be coincidence. Probably not worth losing too much sleep over...this season is all about surviving. If we finish mid table it's not the end of the world, and York will be top three.

As disappointed as I am at the prospect of him leaving, I can't understand why Jonno comes across so salty that he seemingly wants to leave to the point where he's not being allowed to train or play? IIRC, in the summer when Harrogate were interested, Taylor was open to a move and the attitude from the managers was that they wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to go so why did Jonno seem so bitter about it in his post-match interview? Why freeze him out now before a move has even been finalised, when, if the move breaks down and he stays, it could mean ill feelings between player and managers? This is of course assuming Taylor himself would have been happy to train/play in the meantime.

Agree but it’s got to be handled in the right manner you approach the club and put in an offer it smells of Rowe using the back door method to stir things up between Manager and player.
