In a recent interview, the chairman of Chesterfield FC, Mike Goodwin, was asked about club finances and in particular external funding from the football authorities. He revealed that the club had applied for funds to help cover losses accrued in the first three months of the season, via what he described as the National League's Hardship Fund. If such a thing exists, one would assume other clubs including CFC will have also applied for assistance from this fund - unless (taking into consideration the club's stance) the funding came in the form of loans?

I can see why Chesterfield would need to dip into a hardship fund in order to fund three or four new signings my heart bleeds for them😏

I find it incredible that a team who have signed 9 players in just over a month are planning on claiming from a hardship fund.

It’s simple really, deduct their total expenditure on transfer fees this season from any forthcoming grants.
Better still, if a non league club believes they can splash out fees on players at the moment, remove their right to any support. Clearly don’t need it if they can spend so recklessly.

It’s bonkers I think I read they have a squad of 32 players and they are struggling to offload some because no one wants them.

It's clubs like them that penalise the rest. Typical selfish, what can I get, attitude.
