From his Chronicle interview:
Luke George. "Next season, wherever I may be playing my football, I want to kick on again"

If there's one player who is leaving I hope it's him to be honest. May not be entirely his fault, but he has to go down as a very disappointing signing.

Played well Monday but can go for me. Can't carry passengers when working with a small squad, same with Killock, too injury prone.

Echo what's been said already. Decent tackler on his day but too slow and too injury prone. It's never really worked out for him here and it's probably best for all parties that he moves on.

I didn't want to say it but when I read it earlier on today I thought I heard that tone which suggests that he's leaving. If he does, good luck to him.

No doubting his commitment but missing in far too many games which is probably down to in ever being fully fit. And making him captain was just plain stupid.

Absolute disgrace to the shirt - how the 'deluded one' ever made him captain I'll never know. Jogs around the pitch as the game passes him by and spends more time in the stands than on the pitch, either through injury or suspension. His 'efforts' sum up a lot of what has been wrong at our football club and he absolutely isn't the type of character you want younger players looking up to as an example when the going gets tough.

Yeah he played alright on Saturday but I seem to remember his performances improved quite drastically towards the end of last season aswell. Maybe he only fancies it when his contracts nearly up.

The interview with him is quite an honest one really. It's unfortunate that he's injured so often and it must be frustrating for him as well. He can't say the club hasn't stood by him, giving him a new contract even though he barely played last season, and siding with him over the biting incident even though it looked like he was guilty.

He's hardly an old player himself now is he. He was good at Lincoln, good against Woking, but like many i'm not fussed if he stays or goes. If you are going to pick on a player though, shouldn't be his effort. Some of the worlds best in defensive midfield jog around the pitch and break up play tackling, Sergio Busquets, Matic, Kante to name a few. Effort was never his problem.

I'm more than happy for him to jog around the pitch as long as he's positionally sound and breaks up play. Have a look at the Forest Green highlights if you want a trailer of the Luke George we have had at our club for the past two years. Absolute disgrace.

I fully expect to see him hear next season unless he gets a better offer. He was meant to be the type of player that we had been crying out for since the departure of Ashley Williams. In fact Ashley Williams is/was a better player and had pride in wearing his home city shirt.

If Luke could perform week in week out at the same level as last Monday he would be one of the first on the team sheet. However his apparent lack of fitness and at times application are a worry. Suspect he would be outstanding at Conference North level, but like Ashley Williams sadly seems to be not quite up to Conference National.

Mc Carthy out, Hudson the cart horse, the board, message for Jon etc and now the Captain is a disgrace to his shirt. Your deluded if you think that sacking the Manager, changing the board and binning 1/2 the team will solve our problems. Just look at the other teams that have done similar (Eastleigh, York, Southport to name a few) What we need is togetherness, support for the team and manager while we are this difficult position and back the board to guide us forward. Offer some of your time and volunteer, follow the team to as many matches as you can and get behind them. Jon recons most of the players read this site well I say to the players and management
You have mine and many others support, we will continue wishing you to win and make us proud, don't let this shit get in your heads, just play your football, wear the shirt with pride and get us 3 points before the end of the season. As for Luke, F**k them Luke. You have great games and bad games, same as the rest of the squad. You have stuck at it despite having injuries ( not your fault) and a underserved ban( not your fault) thrown at you. Then you come out and give a performance like you did on Saturday and you don't deserve these comments. My guess is you will be here next season so will Jon, and you will show us more Great performances than bad. Keep at it fella.

Never really been a Luke George fan, so it'll be no great loss if he was to leave. Injury prone and he's one of those players you just fear is going to pick up a caution or a red during one of his rare appearances. Came to this club highly rated and he's fallen way below expectations.

We pay his wages, one good game against Woking doesn't change the fact he has been wholly inadequate for his 2 year spell with us and has spent a large proportion of that time injured.

He was hardly Makelele against Woking either. Put a few crunching tackles in, great, that's what I expect from a defensive midfielder. I also expect him to protect our defence....we shipped 3 goals with him being directly responsible for the crucial 3rd. He also makes Blaine Hudson look like a nifty mover. He just isn't good enough for us, no shame in admitting that, he has had 2 seasons to show what he can do which is more than enough time.

Appreciate your comments but when fans like myself have probably paid a few hundred quid this year to watch totally uninspiring performances at the Deva then I think a bit of a moan on a message board is allowed. McCarthy's comments about shouting negative comments down on this board was a bit dictator like. I've not heard him apologise once for the terrible performances recently. When questioned about this it's usually responded by "We'd have taken this at the start of the season" hardly inspiring stuff! As for Luke George I can't remember him having "great games". He's looked off the pace all season. Our midfield is the weakest in the league and needs a huge revamp in the summer. It gets bypassed so easily by opponents and puts huge pressure on a very competent defence.

Tend to agree with most of the comments about George. He's too often a 5 or 6 out of ten player. Average. No doubt the squad needs freshening up and I would be happy to see him move on along with Joyce, Hudson, Killock, Chappell and Richards

We have to remember where we are currently at as a club. We're the worst team in the league on current form, fact. Luckily we had a good run, but we can't rely on a good run next season. What we need is a team full of 6/10 average to consolidate mid table and reach safety much sooner next year. We should be looking into what Macc are doing right, and we are doing wrong. For all our faults, we do have potential to be a better side on this budget, albeit small. I really fear for us in the 18/19 season if we have another poor year next year. Attendances are dropping and Maguire hasn't helped for me. Another poor year, i can honestly see us on gates of 1500, which is self destruction for any pipe dream we all have of getting back to the league in the next 10 years.

I reckon we're likely to play a back three next season. If so, wouldn't Luke George be good at the right side of the three? Might be his best position.
We do need physical type players in our side. As we seem to bring younger and younger players in they will need some experience and help out there.

As a supporter, ivorbigblue1 is not alone.
Our performance in 2017 have been very poor and it is clear Macca is struggling how to turn this round, and some of the players, often through injury have not performed how we expected, needed and wanted.
George is one of those players, mainly because he came here from Southport with such a strong reputation. It hasn't worked out that way, partly through injury, partly because of the way we bypass midfield by booting the ball out of defence in hope and partly through George's performances; the incident at the start of the season over his suspension being a case in point.
However, even if we don't re-sign him, (I am not certain we should unless we see an improvement like we have with Shaw and Hunt this year) he is not a disgrace to the shirt.
