Which current players would you like to see in next seasons team? Are there any players you would like us to try and get in?

Could take or leave Gray, Johnston, Hughes and Waring.
Suspect both Grand and Livesey will have gone (certainly Grand who was meant to retire last summer, got to feel for him).
Would keep all the rest.

I’d keep them all apart from: Ethan Cartwright Iyrwah Gooden Matty Hughes Luke Clark George Waring Simon Grand (looks like he might retire, but if he’s willing to play for one more season then I’d keep him).

I wouldn’t be pushing anyone out of the door. Squad have been brilliant on reduced terms this season. Really surprised you have mentioned Clark and Waring. I doubt you will find anyone of that standard for the money they are on

Yes Clark has been impressive - can play a few positions too. Just a shame for him he’s got the best midfield in the league ahead of him in the team.

I doubt you will find anyone of that standard for the money they are on I can’t really see them both committing their long term futures here when they only briefly feature in the odd game, and I presume they’d prefer to be playing elsewhere where they’d be guaranteed regular football. Clark in particular is a handy player and don’t get me wrong I’m a fan of him, but he’s been very unlucky in the sense that we have a few quality players who are higher in the pecking order, so he deserves to be getting regular game time elsewhere. Waring can be a nuisance on his day, but he’s lost his spark and isn’t as effective as he used to be. He’s got a lovely family who have a nice background related to us, but he wouldn’t be a huge miss if he was to leave I’m afraid.

Bloody hell! It doesn’t take some folk long to ‘get rid’ does it?!
Personally, right at this moment in time, I have a bit more respect for our players, some with contracts ending, families, mortgages, who currently don’t have a clue what the future holds for them. This is their livelihoods you’re talking about don’t forget.
As players, they’ve it rough this season. We’ve got a squad with real depth that we should try and retain as much as we can. They all deserve another season IMO. Some may not want it, some will have better offers- nowt we can do about that, but let’s not start writing players off when they’ve just had their legs kicked out from under them.

Come on guys. It's a bit mean having a go at Rio. I know feelings are running hight at the moment but Rio didn't start this thread and he only gave his opinion on the players he thought we should keep. I don't think Rio meant it the way it came out. I agree that our players have been outstanding on and off the pitch. Compared to certain squads we have had in the past this group of players are ones we can and will always be proud of. After competing in the play-offs last season unpaid and then so many of them playing this season for free is nothing short of outstanding. I wouldn't swop our lads for any other squad in the league.

I'd be happy with all of them staying - they've done well this season and have obviously got a great team spirit.
Surprised to see Gray mentioned, I think he's been our best goalie in a while. Also, with Livesey and Grand there is always the risk of 'one year too many' but if they wanted to stay I'd have them. Still haven't seen many better centre halves than them in this league.

Think getting Weeks signed on and then hopefully Glendon next will coax the rest of the squad.

Frabkly, this squad deserves a second chance to show what it can do, next season. There must be a really good team spirit, associated with this group of players, Weeks and Glendons signings are testimony to that

Wonder if we will see both players move out on loan (Chesterfield?) for the rest of this season? I suspect that’s why we’ve moved quickly to sign both on for another season.
Would benefit all parties - players keeping their match fitness ticking over, playing regularly can only be good for us whenever next season begins.

Which current players would you like to see in next seasons team? Are there any players you would like us to try and get in? I am not sure how much of a budget we will have for next season. We as fans really need to get something going to fund the wages for the start of next season. About 100k should do it i reckon but how we raise it is another matter of course. It would be pointless to sign a few decent players then just bulk up the squad with duffers because we cannot afford lots of decent players. The team would have too many weak areas if that was the case

I hope the Bern and Jono have a few decent centre backs on the radar, weve known for the past few seasons that grand and livesy might be playing there last. The young lad from Stoke looked like he could have done a job but alas Stoke want him playing higher up the pyramid (can't blame them).
I think we'll keep the majority of the squad and mainly agree with Rio that Gooden, Hughes and Cartwright will likely go but I'd keep Clarke and Waring. We've got the basis of a team that could get promoted and do well in the national League too. If our centre mids can pick up where they left off and we can get Johnston and Jackson playing well then we'll always be hard to come up against. I expect Lloyd will get more minutes next season but could do with looking at another striking option too.

Most of the pledges are ongoing monthly commitments, so to think we can raise another 100k so soon after the last effort is probably wishful thinking.

Can’t remember when the DD kicked in. Presumably comes to an end soon. Would be happy to just carry on for another season.

Presumably everyone who contributed last Summer will be given the option of carrying on if it was for a fixed 12 month period. In which case another 100k may be possible. Did we get any update on how many drop outs there were? I believe we followed the Darlington model which factors in a percentage of people who sign up but are subsequently unable to keep paying.

I've paid my cfu membership and build the budget by d d for a few years now. You don't have to renew it just rolls on.

I’m happy to leave this to the managers but I do think a couple of the lads will want to move to get more games rather than sitting on the bench most weeks , there will be hundreds of players looking for clubs at this level and added to that the trial event that is planned we should have lots to look forward to once the long pre season is over.

Very pleased to hear that Harrison Burke has signed on. Although he hasn’t featured in our first team too often, I’ve watched Harrison play for our under-18’s various times where he has a very wise and mature approach for his age. His first outing for our first team was against Tranmere Rovers in the Cheshire Senior Cup last year, and he was absolutely superb by playing an important role towards our clean sheet and keeping Morgan Ferrier quiet. Harrison is definitely an exciting prospect for the future, so I’m happy he’ll be staying put here as he should hopefully excel and bolster his development even more next season. All the best Harrison!

I’m also delighted that Lloyd Marsh-Hughes has penned terms for the long run too. With Will Goodwin departing to Stoke City, it’s now really important that we involve Lloyd in our first team squad as much as we can, because I genuinely believe he can be our next big money maker. Especially in pre-season last year he was outstanding against the likes of Marine where he scored some quality goals, used his frame to hold the ball up and fend off defenders, while his link-up play has impressed me too. This is a big year for Lloyd, and from what I’ve saw of him so far he deserves plenty of chances to shine next season because he has loads of potential. Hopefully Bern and Jonno will include him in our side as much as they can as Lloyd has the ability to be a very exciting talisman. All the best Lloyd!

From Cefn Druids OWS -
Cefn Druids are pleased to announce that they have signed rising star Ethan Cartwright from Chester FC.
The deal, completed on transfer deadline day, sees the 19 year old England C International midfielder bolster the Druids squad in preparation for their assault on Phase II of the Cymru Premier League.
“We have been scouting Ethan for a short period of time because he has a skill set that suits our style of play, he’s technical, has high energy and a competitor on the pitch” said Druids Chairman Des Williams.
“I’d like to thank Chester FC, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley for their professionalism and help and I think we have the start of a very good working relationship” added Williams
“I’m buzzing to be here on loan until the end of the season from Chester, I can’t wait to be playing with these great set of lads and hopefully win as many games as possible. I’ve had a warm welcome from the players and all the staff and I’d like to thank the gaffers at Chester for this opportunity. The hard work starts now.” said Cartwright.
“We’re really happy as a club and management team that Ethan is going out to Cefn Druids. He’s been a revelation around the place for us this season but due to the form of George Glendon, Declan Weeks, Paddy Lacey and Luke Clark he’s found it difficult for game time. He’s someone we have huge hopes for in the future and we feel this move at this moment is the perfect one for his development” said Chester FC Joint Manager Anthony Johnson.
Ethan is eligible to come straight into today’s squad against Barry Town as the Cymru Premier returns to The Rock. If he is given the chance today, Ethan will be looking to make an immediate impact and help the lads produce a big performance!

This is a good and sensible move for Ethan, and one which suits all three parties in this current climate. Due to the depth of quality in our squad he’s struggled to break through this season, but with the JD Cymru Premier now back underway he’ll be able to get game time elsewhere, so it’s a no-brainer. Ethan played the full 90 in Cefn Druids’ slender defeat against Barry Town United yesterday, but despite the defeat he received a few positive reports, so let’s hope he will keep working hard in order to be in contention of featuring more regularly for us next season. Good luck Ethan!

I think it’s a given that clubs in higher leagues were sniffing around Glendon and Weeks seeing as we signed them up six weeks ago and there’s been nothing further in relation to the rest of the squad.
Delighted we tied them down early given the obvious interest.
