If there was ever a time that this club needed you more, it is now.
Get yourself on that board, stand for election, get the Chairmanship and do what should have been done from the very beginning. Grow this football club. I, and others, would back you to the hilt.
Do it Mark, and give this football club a future in this City.

If there was any possibility of this happening then I too would 100% back you. You have the vision and conviction to help the club succeed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't NWAS already left high positions with regards the club twice in the past, due to the amount of time these type of jobs occupy, and through his own admission not having the time to do them ? Unless his circumstances have changed then I can't see him going for the job of Chairman, which would involve more hours than he struggled with in the past.

I'm not just saying the above because he's a passionate supporter, I also agree with a lot of what he has said on here in the past as well particularly about affordability, growing the fanbase, reaching out to the Community. Growing the Youth Academy, getting as much value out of the paid members of staff as we possibly can (accountability), the focus within the community, the work he has done in the past with the Youth setup, and on the board in those early days.
In my opinion the man should have been made Chairman years ago.

It is a thankless task, the board needs direction (in my opinion), and at the moment now that Alan has stepped down, it is resembling a rudderless ship. We need direction, and a person at the helm to steer us back on course. Make no mistake, I believe it would be hard work, but, the prize at the end would be a football club we could all take pride in again.
He's a big enough man (character wise) to do it I think. I don't think (and this is not a pop at the current board) there are enough strong characters out there at the moment that are suited to the role of chair.
I'd back him 100%, and as per some of the replies above. I wouldn't be alone.

I'd go as far to say we should make it a paid role to allow someone like NWAS to fully commit without having to juggle their day job. How viable this is I'm not sure.

Gets the thumbs up from me too. He posts are always sensible and from the heart and you know he is very passionate about this football club. In the early days of Chester FC he was very instrumental and influential. I understand that it's a time consuming role and maybe this is something that he doesn't feel is right for him at this moment in time. Only person who can make the decision to put himself forward is Mark himself. If he does stand for election, I know I won't be alone in voting for Mark.

Haha not for me either pal. Haven't the time to commit unfortunately. I trust the elected board that are already in place to steer the club to calmer waters. I don't even think the club needs a chairman, it needs all of the board members to be strong, visible and to communicate better with the owners and supporters of our club.

No offence intended and it's a fact that you are as blue as they come and played a massive part in our reformation but you have a repution as a serial resigner

An article that's 5 months old, but very pertinent in light of recent developments. It will be interesting tonight to hear(hopefully!!) what positive progress Mark has made if any, and if not why not. Time for him to justify his existence and where there is good news to share it, we do seem poor at times in communicating the positives to the membership and beyond which gives more ammunition for those wishing to point fingers and blame all and sundry without being in possession of facts. Similarly Jon needs to be more open about the issues he is facing, at least the fan base would be able to better judge and form their individual opinions.

Since MM joined, nothing positive has happened IMO. He isn't the man we should have appointed in the first instance, and shouldn't be getting paid by us now. Bin him as CEO, use the money on the playing budget and look for a strong (even salaried) chairman with the time and foresight to drive us forward.

As I said, time for Mark Maguire to justify his existence. If he can't then the board should critically review his continued employment. If he can demonstrate definitive positive progress he should be commended.
