Its being reported that Man Utd are willing to bid £127m for Erling Haaland. How insane is this and I wonder what wage he would be on.
Manchester United have revealed how hard they have been hit financially by the coronavirus pandemic, with net debt rising by 42 per cent (£127.4m) in the latest quarterly results, yet they can shell out another 127m ludicrous

It’s no wonder that many teams relegated after one or two seasons in the Premier League drop down through the divisions.

Look a the difficulties Norwich and Watford are in. Come to think of it, Fulham must be putting their slide down to League Two on hold together with AFC Bournemouth, Reading... Need I continue?

True but on the other hand Wigan, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Sunderland and Bolton

It’s the free market that dictates value, I’m incredibly surprised the OP has a problem with this, considering.

In this day and age 127m for him would be an absolute steal Read something the other day that if Dortmund don’t get rid of him this season he could go for 68m next season as part of his release clause activated

Think he could do a job in front of Dudley, Weeks and Glendon. His Dad lived in Cheshire so that should help him settle in the area.

You’ve got a bit of a habit of bringing politics into something completely unrelated as a form of attacking someone and then having to retract it afterwards. Maybe don’t do it in the first place - some people just want to talk about football, keep it in the off topic.

On the subject of the Premier League, how many goals get conceded just from teams faffing about with it at the back? Arsenal seem to do it every week, it would drive me crazy if I supported them! Spurs also let in some howlers for a team managed by a supposed defensive tactical genius, and Stones' dawdling in the week nearly cost England a win against a Polish side who were toothless without Lewandowski.
Meanwhile, West Brom equalise against Chelsea just from a big punt up the pitch from their keeper. You can take the piss out of Allardyce but he's no fool.
It seems to me the risks of this overpaying at the back by far outweigh any advantages. I worry that if kids are being trained to defend like this it's going to creep in at our level where players don't have the ability or the time on the ball to get away with it.

Allardyce makes the most of the resources at his disposal, which is why there’ll always be a job for him somewhere in football.

Reported wage demand of £600k a week, plus I think it was a £31 million signing on fee split between Mino Raiola and Alf-Inge.

Thing is I don't see much difference between what he does with teams like West Brom and Sunderland, and what Mourinho does with some of the best teams in the world. Do we ridicule British managers? If Allardyce had a sexy accent and called "Special Sam" would he have won the Champions League by now?

It would be interesting to see what Mourinho could do with a team in the relegation zone and a limited budget, which is what Allardyce usually gets lumbered with. Would Jose be able to manage and coach a team out of trouble rather than just buy his way out?

Reported wage is probably a Raiola game to maximise his own and his players earnings. Apparently he and the Dad are doing the rounds of European clubs to see what they can get. Playing clubs off against each other. Not sure Ole would want many more of Raiola's players, given the trouble they've had with Pogba. On a slightly separate topic, you'd hope Man City don't get Haaland or Kane this summer. Premier League would become even less competitive.

I didn't realise Haaland was born in Leeds. Suppose it makes sense as his dad played for them. Did we ever try and get him to play for England?
Imagine being 20 years old and getting paid £600K a week. I almost wonder what motivates you to keep playing earning that kind of money. I think I'd just play for a year or two and then sack football off!

Beckham as well, I always thought it was a shame he went for the Major League retirement home in his early 30s. Given that pace wasn't a big part of his game, he could probably have played in the Premier League until he was 40. Still, he's done alright out of it and I doubt he cares what I think!

Even crazier when you consider he'd be getting paid the same in one week, as someone on £15k a year would earn over 40 years.

I've also just worked out that £600K a week is almost exactly a pound per second!
