'The restructure will see age groups re-organised with fewer players in each age group and a more detailed plan to encourage player development through the provision of a high quality training programme and accompanying games programme. The restructure ensures the club will be offering an Academy programme that caters for all age groups from Under 9’s through to Under 18’s.' www.chesterfc.com/2021/05/28/youth-news-academy-to-be-restructured-during-2021-22-season/

Appreciate that it’s cut throat in the real world of academy football (and part of our Academy’s move towards more formal professionalism) but that reads to me like some of the juniors in each age group are being let go? Or is it more a case of the older boys in each current age group moving up a group from U9 to U16?
The repetition of the word “restructure” seems a very PR way of saying we’re releasing those that we know won’t make the grade. Maybe the “squad sizes will be reduced to maximise playing time” makes it obvious that that is the case, fair enough, and if this means we can actually improve and go even further than what this setup has already achieved in just a decade of existence, combined with the KGV project, then it would secure the club’s future for decades.
