I can remember a similar thread to this last year, and thanks to Vandycandy’s request I believe it is sensible to make another one to keep you updated along the way. Whenever we make a new signing I will just update this post instead of duplicating it all of the time. Goalkeepers: GK - Louis Gray GK - Jon Worsnop
Defenders: RB/CB/LB - Dan Cowan RB - Aidan Roxburgh RB - Kevin Roberts RB - Jamie Morgan CB - Simon Grand CB - Danny Livesey CB - Harrison Burke CB - Matty Williams LB - Josh Askew
Midfielders: RM/AM - James Hardy RM - Jude Oyibo CM - George Glendon CM - Drew Lowe CM - Taylor Dyson CM - Declan Weeks CM - Luke Clark CM - Paddy Lacey LM - John Johnston
Forwards: ST - Lloyd Marsh-Hughes ST - Anthony Dudley ST - George Waring ST - Darren Stephenson ST - Zack Clarke ST - Sam Turner
(As at 03/09/21).

Whilst we continue to raid Curzon Ashton, is there any chance we can get Cameron Mason in? Best keeper in the league by far.

It would appear that Bern and Jonno have assembled their preferred starting XI but I still feel the squad is a bit light up front bearing in mind that Stephenson, Waring and Dudley are likely to be hit with suspensions and injuries over the course of a season.

Solid signing Stephensen. Always liked him when he’s come up against us in the past, been around the clubs a bit but hopefully can push on here. He’s got all the assets you’d want but never really been clinical.
At 28 he’s hopefully going to have the experience we’ll need in the bigger games. Few more additions and we’ll be right up there.
(Some good goals and assists in here - )

More clubs than Tiger and not really prolific, has he been used more as a winger elsewhere?

I think he has had a couple of lean years since the video of goals which was mainly due to a couple of bad injuries, we will need to get his hunger and appetite for the game back ,just like we did fo Asante who was supposedly a has bin when we signed him.

For what it's worth stats pages for players at our level are very unreliable. This wiki page contradicts itself frequently, misses off parts of his career and even states further up the page he scored 62 in 157 for Chorley in this league. B & J have showed they have a good eye for these sorts of player so hopefully they've pulled off another coup. He highly rated judging by fans of his previous clubs on social media. Best of luck to him. UTS.

Difficult to argue with their signings. Can't think of an absolute shocker. Assume Stephenson will be played up front rather than on the left. Looking at the squad we are probably going to rely on goals from all over the pitch rather than a prolific scorer.

I’m guessing he must be part time so playing for Curzon must be a convenience thing otherwise surely he’d be playing at a higher level. Just googled him and apparently Curzon have agreed to release him at the end of the season, but I’d have thought we are sorted for keepers with Worsnop as back up.

Some Chesterfield fans reckon that Cam Mason is lined up to go there next season. He'd easily make it 2 or 3 levels higher, but as lincolnexile suggests, he may well have a career away from football and want to stay P/T. I am happy with Louis Gray, as he had a good last season and will only get better.

To be honest, I'd have preferred a 'fox in the box' type, but I trust the managers to get the balance right - some of the football last season was outstanding and the goals were shared out then. I suppose Dudley can play the No. 9 role, Waring too.....and Livesey of course!

Really happy with this signing. Darren is another exciting addition to our squad who has recent experience of winning this division, so hopefully he will bang in plenty of goals along the way to help us emulate that feat. I can remember him scoring against us in our humiliating 0-6 defeat against Stockport County in 2019, and judging by comments on social media there are plenty of Hatters supporters dishing him a lot of praise, which will hopefully bode well. Darren also has National League North experience at Chorley, Curzon Ashton, and also AFC Fylde (where he won another promotion in 2016-17), while he has even tested himself at National League level as well at Tranmere Rovers and most recently FC Halifax Town. He seems quite a tall yet pacy player to me which is a positive, and although he may not have too many goals to his name Darren’s assist numbers are impressive, so he should bring a lot of creativity to the table. We still need to bring in another proven goalscorer into our side though as our striking department is still a little bit light, but I have full trust in Bern and Jonno that they know what they’re doing, and I can’t wait to see what Stephenson can do in a blue and white shirt. Welcome to Chester FC Darren 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️!

Thought Stephenson was tidy when we’ve been up against him. Good signing if you perhaps play Dudley off him.
Still a little worried where our goals will come from but does seem set up to spread the goals around.
Don’t know about everyone else but I’m really optimistic about next season, I think some fans forget we were top 5 when the league ended.
Anyone know when fixtures are out?

If I remember rightly when Stockport won 6.0 at the Deva he was involved in all their goals. He brushed our defenders aside.I look forward to seeing him continue his good form at the Deva.

Anthony Johnson - “We don’t feel like we are going to be reliant on one player scoring 20 or 25, we would rather have five or six scoring tens with the way we are playing and the areas of the pitch we create chances from. So, it is great signing, we are really happy.” www.cheshire-live.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-darren-stephenson-johnson-20877336

2 promising young players signed, in Matty Williams and Zac Clark. A 6ft 2in defender and a 6ft 3in striker. This is exactly what we should be doing in creating a conveyor belt of young talent.

They both look about 15! Thought these were two lads we’d picked up hanging around outside Goals. Seriously, decent background for their ages and promising for hopefully the next two or three seasons. Another young centre back is exactly what we needed, and we’ve essentially got a backup to Waring too in the height stakes up front. Great stuff.

Wonder if we're gonna play 3 at the back, with wing backs. Given the number of centre halves we've signed. Although we've no obvious candidate to play left back unless we move Morgan onto that side.

Danny Elliott won't be staying at Hartlepool next year. Can't blame him for taking the opportunity, he got a medal after all. Would we have him back? I think he would do a job but as we have 5 strikers on the books already is there even space/budget for him should he want to?
