Not our league
But bit of a shock signing, Paul Mullin has signed for Wxm !
League Two top goal scorer with 32 last season for Cambridge, turned down League One football !

Three-year deal on 11 grand a week apparently - no wonder he’s dropped down the leagues to go there. Football is a short career, got to look after yourself.

It is indeed a short career - one in which I personally wouldn’t want to waste part of it knocking around in non-league football against the likes of Boreham Wood and Bromley when I’d earned the right to be playing against Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday in League One. Can totally understand anyone putting financial security first though.

Bloody hell thats Championship money totally ridiculous for National League level. How will that sit next year when the playing budget is to be capped at £900k

Also they’ll be gunning for promotion this year and if it doesn’t work out they’ve got the funds to just overhaul again next summer. The big question for me is on the manager - we’ve all said it, they need someone who knows these leagues, it’s the hardest league in England to get out of. Should’ve thrown the cash at Micky Mellon, not convinced Parkinson knows what he’s doing at this level (I actually thought it was the other Phil Parkinson, Nantwich and Alty when I heard his name mentioned initially).

Mullin is probably a Championship player. Unless he gets injured they will stroll that league. You could put John McCarthy in charge and it wouldn't make any difference, I fear.

I can't see any way they can fail to go up the leagues and it will be some time if ever before we play them again. It doesn't add up to much though does it? It's just yet another demonstration of how filthy rich businessmen can bring success to previously unsuccessful football clubs - see Wigan, Gretna and Forest Green for other examples. All the more reason for us to take pride in what we're doing and strive to make it a success.

Oh yeah we won’t be playing them for 20 years - back to the 90s/2000s isn’t it.

Not wishing the lad any bad luck or harm but the risk is there that if you spent all your money on one Stella signing is what happens if he gets a long term injury. You will still be paying his massive salary but he wouldn’t be of any use to you.

Give your head a wobble lad. 2.5k is approx his basic, he has had a sweetener to up sticks, the rest is made up of appearance, goals, promotion.

Anybody believing that Mullin has gone to Wrexham for only 2.5K per week needs to give their head a shake.
The thing about Wrexham fans is that they will genuinely believe his head was turned by those famous European nights in the 1980s.

Oh and of course reverts to the form he showed before his one season wonder at Cambridge Correct - just one excellent season. If he repeats that at this 'lower' level, then fair enough. But I was reading that there were a couple of decent Cambridge players who were putting chances 'on a plate' for him last season. If the service isn't the same, he could revert to mediocrity. Not really that much difference in level from L2 to Conference. Most teams tend to have big strong well organised defenders, maybe better than those in much of L2. At 26, a 3 year deal is probably good business for both parties.

Still a lot of money though if he fails. Presumably this must be your highest paid player ever. Don't even think Mickey T's magic money machine could manage to keep up with all that ££££.
