Just read that as of October, the average gas and electricity customer's yearly bill will increase from £1,139 to £1,277.
I make that an increase of over 12%. In what world is that sort of increase reasonable in any year, let alone at a time like this? Is it costing them 12% more to source energy? Are people getting paid 12% more?
It feels like they can do what they want and don't even bother to justify it.

Highest energy bills in a decade but it’s what the public wanted.
At least the supermarket shelves aren’t as full as they should be, given the price rises in home energy and millions of households having to cut back somewhere. The people voted for that to happen too.

I don’t think it’s the end of these increases unfortunately, then you’ll have the knock on effect on manufacturing costs.

I accept things go up every year, but that rate of 12% surely doesn't correspond to anything. The energy market is a racket. I can't see it as anything more than greed, I'm afraid, and there seems to be very little in the way of regulation to stop it.

I can't see it as anything more than greed, I'm afraid, and there seems to be very little in the way of regulation to stop it. You’re right the energy supply market is a racket and renewables are the worst. Solar power, wind turbines, Bio plants and other green energy solutions they’re all subject to grant funding and so heavily subsidized that they’re practically a license to print money. The next big bandwagon that firms are currently jumping on in order to relieve tax payers of their hard earned is car charger stations being built on néw housing estates. The green power agenda means that the government pays developers to build them and the developers also get the profits from the car chargers. Astronomic profits for little outlay all in the name of being green.
