Draw is Monday lunch time. Surely due a run. One of our recent conquerors, Dunston, went out yesterday to another, Marine. Given the way the season has gone I reckon it will be AFC Fylde away.

I think the lowest ranked definitely Northern team in it is Blackpool-based Squires Gate from level 9. Also Stone Old Alleynians if they end up in our region. Got to hope for one of them at home, I suppose.

If this map is anything to go by then it looks likely we will be placed in the Midlands Region for the draw đ: www.google.com/mymaps/viewer?mid=1rDb4YUZvgxTvbKVk4n_2OutZTiCgJ7rH&hl=en_GBIâd personally prefer an away day out at a lower side for this round given itâs been a while since weâve played an away FA Cup tie under no restrictions. Stone Old Alleynians away would be nice, however we never do it the easy way in the cup so knowing our luck weâll probably have a rock hard one, such as Kidderminster Harriers away which will be my prediction đ«.

Home draw against a lowly side in this round for me. Although as we know, no easy games in the FA Cup, even at this stage!

What is the source of this grouping of regions? What are the regions - North, Central, South West, South East, London and surrounds?
Is there a link to the actual groupings by name/club anywhere as that link provided doesnât really give a source.

I came across it on Twitter from an account called âNon League Mapsâ. The five regions are North, Midlands, South East, South West, and East Anglia.

Does seem strange that weâre not in the same regional grouping as other Cheshire-based clubs.

According to that map Kettering Town are in the East Anglia Zone, while AFC Rushden And Diamonds are in the Midlands Zone despite being further South than Kettering. Their could be some sense in it though because at this stage last year we played against Worksop Town who are in the Midlands so you never know. Weâll just have to wait and seeâŠ

Think the clubs weâve played in this round are Gainsborough, City of Liverpool, Altrincham and Worksop, which would appear to confirm the nature of the regional split.

Worksop is actually north of Chester on a map, but it does feel more like the Midlands. I suppose they've got to draw a line somewhere and we're somewhere on the cusp of being "Northern". It also depends on who else gets through so it won't be the same every year. I remember one year we somehow ended up in the Southern section of what's now the ELF Trophy and inevitably drew Plymouth - although mercifully it was at home.
I think they need to put less focus on North and South, and more on West and East. Put North West clubs in the same region as Birmingham area ones, and put the Yorkshire/Lincolnshire/Northampton area ones together. The logic at the moment seems to be that Chester and Boston is a regional draw because their latitudes are similar.

There was one season when we were rightly in the Northern section but so were Cambridge United. Lo and behold first round we were drawn away to Cambridge. Tuesday night, Keith Curle made nine changes, we were best 3-0 and some of us got a free home game refund to make up for it.

That wasn't FA Cup - it was the mickey mouse cup for lower leagues - but still odd that they were 'Northern'.
