To be fair I have stood by these two given their desire to have a good business model in the long term as well as passion to develop Academy players but their team selection has become contrary to most supporters taking into account covid et al. Is the problem having 2 managers instead of 1 and thereby compromising signings and team selection? Sadly I think it is.

Something seems sadly wrong g at the start of this season, is it management, players, fans expectations - who knows but conceding basic goals as we have been, not looking threatening up front, unbalanced team selection then the responsibility lies with two individuals. Getting the right balance in a squad is always a gamble, just look at how many players Youngy went through until he had the squads he wanted. However some of the signings do seem to have failed to date. I would think the next 6 games are crucial to managers survival

If I want to carry on watching non league football, I may as well save the trip into Chester and watch Connah's Quay. Can't ever see Chester in the Football League again. That's fine. I can watch other teams, but I can never support them. Each to their own. Problem is, with the performances of late, the floating fans in C/Quay area have the choice of title winning football at the college, or jump on the train to Wr@xham with all the publicity they are getting. GCQ may only be LoW, but is no harder a sell than National League North (especially when we're playing so poorly). Not going to be an issue for the die hard majority on here, as we may take in the odd other games but Chester will always be our club - It's making up the numbers from elsewhere that is going to become a real issue if performances don't improve, as the crowds of late are beginning to show.

Curzon's decent start is no fluke, a Club the lowest budget beating Gloucester away 1-2 are currently 4th in the table.

Management have 4 games to save their Jobs. I'm in no way defending them but who do the club replace them with? Paying them off will use up what limited funds we have. Again, the only money making option we have is a Cup run and that could all be over this time next week.

I hope there’s enough fans left at the end to boo them off

All teams have a manager and an assistant, so there will always be disagreements to resolve. The whole two managers thing is just a title.

Again, the only money making option we have is a Cup run and that could all be over this time next week. And that is why they will get more time. But right now they need to stop playing half-arsed tactics and get back to basics, stop picking players who they have been too loyal to and ask them to repay the loyalty by retiring gracefully and freeing up some cash and stop arguing with fans. We'll see what they have over the next few weeks.

What an abysmal showing we will be lucky to get over 1000 at the next home game I already fear the worst next week

We'd lost the game before kick off. I can't defend the team or the managers. Something needs to change and quickly

Pressure is already on really. 1 win in 6 games and awful defensive record simply isn’t good enough. Today’s lineup with 6 defenders and no recognised striker looked like we were setup to avoid defeat, which is all well and good if it works, but as soon as you go a goal down then you’re up against it.

I love Bern & Jonno but they haven't seemed themselves of late in my opinion. Their interviews have been unusually tetchy and defensive. That lineup today was ridiculous - an insult to the fans that went and a betrayal of Jonno's insistence that they always go for a win.
They are human and perhaps recent events have affected them. I hope they can turn it round.

I wasn’t there today but I’m struggling to work out where all this “six at the back” talk is coming from.
Today we started with:
4 centre halves 1 left back who usually bombs forward and has even played left of a front three 3 centre mids 1 winger 1 “forward”
Ok, it’s still very unbalanced but can anybody who did go today explain what the formation actually was and who played where?

Last time we had "investment" we signed Johnston. That signing has been not only a waste of money but actually detrimental, because the managers feel compelled to put him in the team and justify his fee even though he never does anything.

Agree at the moment he brings nothing to the team yet last season I thought he was begining to settle in and play a bit but so far this season nothing

there was some good candidates for the managers job last time but the board declined to talk to them ,who has 2 managers , one man in charge and an assistant is the normal way,the club is starting to go backwards the next few games are critical

That interview from Bern is embarrassing. Lost the plot talking about play offs. This is a relegation team with Johnston, Grand, Stephenson, Clark being way out of their depth. Massive clear out needed otherwise we will be in the Evo Stik playing to 800.

Watched the start of Bernard's interview and he reckons it's the best squad they've had since they came to the club. He looked thoroughly demoralised. Not quite sure what's gone horribly wrong. Worrying times.

Stephenson has been appalling to date. But he's not the only one, far from it.
Was any reason given for benching both Duds and Waring today?
I like Bern and Jonno but yeh, some of the tactics and lineups being employed frustrate the hell out of me

Probably the worst Chester team I’ve seen Worse than Jon Mccarthys team wow Given the level we are now at, and not being able compete with Clubs like Curzon and Chorley, it is arguable that this is worst Chester team ever. Jon McCarthy was insanely allowed by a board asleep at the wheel to squander the budget on a bunch of crap journeymen, and then kept in post until it was far too late ......
