Absolutely massive game tomorrow. At this point I would take a replay at the Deva all day long, so as long as we just don’t lose I will be more than happy. Our squad is pretty much fully fit now, therefore we simply cannot afford to use the Covid excuse anymore as a good run in the FA Cup is absolutely imperative for our club. I hope our players realise that, because not only would a long run assist us financially, but it would also galvanise the whole place which is what is needed after our horrific start in the league. Our opponents Darlington will come into this clash having secured their first three points on Tuesday with an impressive 1-3 away win at Brackley Town, thus the confidence levels in their camp will be much higher than ours, but anything can happen in the FA Cup so it’s vital we turn up. Gathering up the general mood around our fanbase I do sense this tie as being a make or break scenario for us, because if we win it will provide us with a major morale boost, however if we do get knocked out I can see social media being a very dangerous place tomorrow evening. Our last match was on Saturday where we lost 4-1 away against Chorley in what was another diabolical showing. The first half was shocking from us, because we defended like schoolboys while going forward we had no hope whatsoever. It only took less than ten minutes for Chorley to score, as Harry Cardwell headed in at the far post to make it 1-0 to the home side. Matters became worse for us, as Ollie Shenton made it 2-0 to Chorley by sweeping in a cross from the right. That man again Harry Cardwell made it 3-0 to Chorley, as he tapped in following a great initial save from Louis Gray. On the stroke of half time Dan Cowan headed home for us to make it 3-1, although that was a mere consolation. We got what we deserved in that half with us facing a monumental challenge ahead of half time and the second half. Meanwhile, our display in the second period wasn’t too dissimilar given we still maintained our sluggish style. Scott Leather made it 4-1 to Chorley relatively early on, as we conceded yet another goal from a set piece. With ten minutes to go our misery continued, because George Glendon got sent off for us due to picking up his second yellow card. Chorley so nearly added another with Jacob Blyth smashing against the post. A very depressing day at the office with our third defeat in half of our league matches confirmed, which is simply not on at all. Darlington have made a poor start to the new campaign, because even though the County Durham outfit are coming into this clash on a high, they still find themselves sat lower than us in the league table with just one victory out of five. That solitary victory came on Tuesday night though, as The Quakers condemned high-flying Brackley Town to their first defeat of the campaign, therefore it will not be plain-sailing for us at Blackwell Meadows tomorrow. Last campaign was of course ended early due to Covid-19, but even though Darlo were sat just two places above the relegation zone by the time the season was curtailed, they had played far less compared to the rest of the league due to Covid issues, therefore the North East outfit will be out to prove a point this time out. After a few average campaigns at this level the expectation levels had risen at Blackwell Meadows at the beginning of the last two seasons in particular, however given many key players departed Darlington during the Summer, such as Michael Liddle, Érico Sousa, Adam Campbell, and Dan Maguire to name a few, I can’t really see Darlo setting the world on fire this season. My emotions are mixed with excitement and also nervousness ahead of tomorrow, because due to this being an FA Cup tie it is pretty much a do or die game, compared to the league match at Blackwell Meadows next February where I will be feeling much more relaxed. I’m looking forward to making my second visit up to Darlington’s new ground having endured our lacklustre 2-0 defeat in December of 2019, so hopefully we will perform much better tomorrow because it is an absolute necessity we do so. Due to recent poor results I can’t see us taking that many which is a shame with it being a cup match, while this used to be an eventful fixture back in the Football League days too. For all of us making the long journey up though, it’s absolutely pivotal we get behind our boys throughout because regardless of our opinions on certain individuals, they need our backing to ensure we are in the hat on Monday. The importance of this one cannot be overstated We all know the impact or potential impact of failure to progress
The start will be crucial IMO, fall behind early and we face yet another uphill battle. On the other hand, in typical Chester fashion, we could turn up, compete and get the result we crave. I'm holding on to the latter with a 1-0 win. Why? I've no idea, just an optimistic hunch!

FA Cup time, this is the type of game that a lot of posters on here think will propel us into the EFL with its financial gain.."what we need is a bloody good cup run", ending in us playing Man City in the Semi's...then going on to drum Curzon Ashton in the final at Wembley..that's if of course Paddy Lacey ain't too busy ...but in reality..i can only really see a 1-1 draw, then back at ours to try again...well...its us isn't it.....

Interestingly, it doesn't appear to show a figure for losing from the first round proper until the semi final. Should be no prize money for winning it, I don't think. Spread that £1.8million across the earlier rounds. The Cup and qualifying for Europe should be reward enough.

3-1 Think we’ll smash them. Why the negativity? UTS 3-1 = home win. Why the negativity 🤔 i admire and respect your glass half full mentality and everything crossed for a 1- 3 result 🤞 ps I won't list our negativities again though I hope you will enlighten us how we will "smash them"?

Think this is a rare instance where all three outcomes have a similar likelihood and it’s genuinely difficult to call which way it will go. Darlo are probably slight favourites given our wretched away form so far, but my gut feeling is we will still be in the FA Cup tonight. I dread to think what the reaction will be if we are not:

Can't remember when we last turned up at a FA cup tie? During these managers time here it's been particularly poor for some reason? We put on an impressive display to beat Spennymoor last season in it, but that was quickly forgotten about due to what happened against Marine in the following round. Besides that we’ve done very little in the competition since drawing at Barnsley.
