I think this will be a great appointment. He's still got lots to learn but then so did Eddie Howe and he's done pretty well

Delighted for him. Chester through and through and already achieved a lot for a 28yo 👏👏👏 Great to see the club going for potential and can't wait to see who we sign.

Feel like it'll either be brilliant or a complete disaster. I don't know the lad personally, but I'm reliably informed by those who do that he'd walk over broken glass for the club, so let's give him a proper chance and not turn on him after a couple of bad results.

Congrats to Cal, still not sure if it's the right appointment but I'll get right behind him & give him my full support. Be interesting to see how he spends the playing budget & which youth players he introduces to the team. I'll be honest I'm going to miss the madness of the manager threads.

Whatever your views on his appointment (and I'm one of those who have no reason to disapprove), CM deserves all the support in the world especially in the early stages of his tenure. Will he get it? - questionable, given the fickle nature of some and the modern fan culture of demanding instant success. We may have got a gem here. We should let him develop the team in the way he wants - he deserves this at least after what he's done and achieved with the kids.

I think it’s a tad too soon and wonder how he’s going go cope with recruitment, especially when we can’t afford another season of pure nothingness.
Full support though and I’LL NOW RENEW MY SEASON TICKET 😂😂
Get Colin in to be his sound board and let’s give it a go. As I’ve said previously - fast start to the season and the momentum behind a local lad in charge would be unparalleled.
Let’s have it.
Now can we get Louis Gray tied to another 2 year deal.

One hell of a gamble. We’ve just finished in the lowest position in the pyramid since reformation, need to recruit realistically 10 first team players and our attendances(therefore budget) are on the decline. Knowing Calum, he’ll put more blood sweat and tears into this than any else we could recruit. I’ll throw my weight behind him, but for the first time, I’m feeling that if this appointment doesn’t work then neither will fans ownership as a model going forward

Can we get some 'Coastal Steamer' stuff going at El Deva.?
The very least I expect is whilst in the dugout, Cal wears a Captains hat and smokes a pipe.

Not so sure that this is the right time for him to take the job but hopefully things work out well. He obviously is confident enough to take the step up and hopefully we start the season well so it doesn’t knock it straight away. We can’t afford another mediocre season like the one we’ve just had we need to be in and around the playoffs as a minimum. At least the decision has been made early which gives us plenty of time to plan for next season. Just need the released/retained list to be released now!

I'm pleased by this. It's great to know that 'one of our own' is in the dugout.
Good too that a young manager has been given the chance. Seems to happen more abroad - even some of the greatest managers of the modern era started off young, so age shouldn't be seen as a barrier.

Really happy with this. Yes of course there's a risk, but there's risk with any appointment. The positive slant you can put on it is that he's never been anything but successful, whereas any more "experienced" managers we might have gone for would have a lot of experience of failing or controversy.
As fans, we have to give him patience and full support. Well done Calum, and let's make the Deva a happy place again.

There's risk associated with every appointment.
Cunningham and Gannon represent a much bigger risk. Gannon for being a right moron, and Cunningham would be off within 6 months again anyway.
Colin Woodthorpe coming in with him as his #2 apparently so that's fantastic news.
Time to get behind him and the club!

Depressing that I’ve now reached that age as a supporter when the team’s manager is younger than me.
Seriously, my only sticking point was how big a risk it is for him more so than the club - especially as he’s a lifelong fan and knowing how unbelievably toxic our fanbase can be (already a few comments on the socials that prove that point), if we hit a rough patch and what that’d do to a lifelong fan of the club in the firing line but to be fair that’s his decision to make and he’s made it.
Everything else is a positive, I know for an absolute fact that the man lives and breathes football let alone Chester FC, is an incredible student of the game, proven track record in his eight or so years involved with the club and has a solid two years of non league adult football experience behind him. Colin Woodthorpe coming along as assistant balances the experience greatly, he’s been assistant to the successful Dave Challinor elsewhere.
With the appointments on and off the pitch lately things are looking great at this club 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

Calum McIntyre is an excellent coach who has done an amazing job with the youth team. His teams with be disciplined and well organised. And it fits in with the 'new' sports hub and training model and the the clubs vision. Recruitment will be of crucial importance

Worth quoting the Runcon Linnets Chairman on his departing Manager:
"It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked with him (Calum) and have him as our manager. We are sure he is destined for big things in his football career. He has performed his duties with integrity, a real passion and a sense of pride, while assembling and developing a squad of players with undoubted talent and spirit."
I will be giving Calum my 100% support. And for those who are critical or underwhelmed before a ball has been kicked in the new season. Give the guy some breathing space!
