From CFC OWS -
Chester FC are pleased to announce that Zack Clarke has penned a new one-year deal with the club.
The 19-year-old striker made his first Blues senior start in the 1-0 victory over Farsley Celtic last month, and also made four sub appearances for the club this term.
Zack also impressed during loan spells at Atherton Colls, Clitheroe and Leek Town during 2021/22. Clarke joined the Blues in June last year, and marked his debut with four goals in our 6-0 friendly win at Elton Vale.
Manager Calum McIntyre said: “It is really pleasing news for the club to be able to retain Zack for the coming season. He has an exciting profile in terms of physicality and has had some useful opportunities out on loan in senior football this season. With the move to daytime training and increased contact time with our players, we hope to be able to develop Zack further given the potential he has shown.”

Zack has the attributes to become a good striker for us. I'd expect him to improve throughout the season.

Is anyone able to start a rolling squad thread? That can be updated throughout the summer, so can see how the squad is looking.

Hopefully as Callum has said with regular training, and being around the first team squad he can develop. Has a bit of size about him, shown glimpses of promise so I hope it works out well for Zack.

He has the right attributes for a centre forward. He has a physical presence and is exactly the type of player we should be looking to develop.

Hopefully this will mean the end of Waring & Dudley.

Is Lloyd Marsh Hughes still with us? Reckon his contract has ran out now the season is over, he was mostly on loan at Cal’s Runcorn last season - alongside Alex Downes, Louis Hayes, Iwan Murray, Stuart Crilly and Rhain Halliwell (all permanent Runcorn players). Would you take any of them back here? Heard alot of good talk about a couple of them.

Not seen enough of the likes of Downes, Hayes, Crilly or Halliwell. Liked what I saw with Murray, though his size must have gone against him unfortunately. Think it's time for a fresh start elsewhere for Marsh Hughes, had opportunities with us and never really grabbed them.

I’m at Flint v TNS tonight by chance.
Although Flint look like a Sunday league side ( no wonder with ex white bear mancot front man Lee Fowler in charge ) - McManus up top for TNS looks like he’d do a serious job for us.
He’ll be 17 in 16 after tonight but I suppose TNS will have him full time on a full time whack at 28 years old? Midfield general can you check him out even if he’s under 6”5? 😂
Ps - Simmonds is still shite. Reckon if I didn’t drink 8 bottles of red a weekend and go peak sandwiches 3 times a week I’d have him in my back pocket still.

Seen him play a couple of times. A clogger in a cloggers league. Its a no from me.

A fair decision for us to make, although I'd question why it's been stop start for him....if he was impressing and getting goals then surely Runcorn would be using him more? Never seen anything from him to suggest he'll make it at our level to be honest.

Never seen anything from him to suggest he'll make it at our level to be honest. It's obviously not gone that well at Runcorn for him. He should stand out a bit at Flint, if he's going to make it at NLN level soon. I actually thought he'd be an effective late substitute if we needed to go more up tempo and direct late in a game. We don't have that many options for that in the squad.

Appreciate the level and standard but can’t argue with a debut hat-trick.
Always seen Clarke as a more mobile, more threatening Waring. Good option for us.

Another goal for Zack tonight in a 2-2 draw at Caernarfon, with Lloyd Marsh-Hughes also on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Jay Owen also on the scoresheet in that game, plethora of ex-Blues on the Welsh leagues.
