The ivory tower is tumbling!
Not sure Johnson will go quietly though. He'll dig his heels in and try and make it a him against the world thing.

Doesn’t make much difference, still be a Tory c**t in charge… of both main political parties.

The problem is we're now going to get the serious arse-lickers elevated to more prominent roles. Dorries, Gove, Rees-Mogg etc.
As I said, Johnson won't just resign. He's not like that.

Apparently Boris Johnson has said ""it would take a flamethrower to get me out of Downing Street".
Who's got a flamethrower then?

What an absolute clown car of a Government. If Tory voters had a conscience or any sense of shame they’d be cringing themselves inside out by now.

Rats leaving a sinking ship that they have helped steer to the bottom of the sea for the past two and a half years. They haven’t suddenly developed a conscience or a sense of ‘doing the right thing’ for the good of the country.
Resignations purely for their own self-interests. Nothing more, nothing less.

So he is gone... Not one utterance of remorse or an apology for any of his actions his own party have thrown him out for.
Pathetic excuse for a man,a liar, a misogynist and a leader who never took any responsibility for himself. blamed others and scapegoated them when it suited. The worst PM in my life.

Good news that he's going. It's a start. It's such a dreadful message to the world having him as PM. An embarrassing three years and hopefully the country will never be so stupid again.
I think those of us on the left have to accept it's going to be very gradual process before we get anything like the government we want. Hopefully it starts with the Tories replacing Johnson with someone with no charisma who nobody likes (Michael Gove would be perfect), them losing the next election, and Starmer being PM for a while before people realise he's a waste of space and Labour electing someone a little more progressive and left-leaning.

The most damning summary of this c**t, is that he made Cameron seem likeable and competent - for a Tory.
Let’s get a general election called and clear them all.
Worry they’ll revert back brexit promises and keep the blue wall in the north, where most the uneducated gammon want Britain to be British.
Christ the more I think about it the more it depresses me. Only Andy Burnham can save us

I'm not sure I even trust Burnham to be honest, seems as slippery and snakey as the wet-wipe in charge of Labour.

Who said that?
All I will say about this war criminal Blair tribute act is what’s the point in getting the Tories out if you’re not going to change anything, if you’re not going to wind back their damaging policies? If you’re not going to stop the privatisation of the NHS? If you’re not going to nationalise key utility services (which is what the majority of the public want, by the way)? If you’re not going to help move 15 million people out of poverty?
What’s the point? Literally may as well keep the Tories in for the rest of days.

Between Sunak and Truss for the next Tory leader and PM then.
Just to emphasise, the extent of my interest in this is which candidate is the weaker and more likely to lose a General Election in 2024 or before.
For that reason, I'd prefer Truss. Sunak has more charisma and is a good speaker, plus I think despite his dodgy tax status some people (particularly business owners) still see him as the "good guy" who gave us the furlough scheme. Truss on the other hand is always making a fool of herself.

Sunak did well over the pandemic, but then he has got a fine for breaking the lockdown rules, so more of the same. Pretty shit choice tbh

Members can vote on-line to choose our next PM yet trades unionists can’t do the same in a strike ballot. What a country we live in.

Jesus the way things are going with all these Twitter spats enveloping an in-fighting ruling party, Kier Starmer is going to be the only Tory left at this rate. What's remarkable is how openly they're willing to drag the debate into the gutter. Let's remember, this is a contest for their OWN leadership, the people who sit on the same side of the Commons as them, and you have Nadine Dorries slagging off the clothes Rishi Sunak is wearing! If they treat each other with such disrespect, how can anyone expect them to have the general public's interests at heart? Presumably all these Tory MPs first joined the party because they identified with its ideology. I think recent years have really exposed what that ideology is - self-interest, greed, and often plain nastiness and spite.
