Who said that? All I will say about this war criminal Blair tribute act is what’s the point in getting the Tories out if you’re not going to change anything, if you’re not going to wind back their damaging policies? If you’re not going to stop the privatisation of the NHS? If you’re not going to nationalise key utility services (which is what the majority of the public want, by the way)? If you’re not going to help move 15 million people out of poverty? What’s the point? Literally may as well keep the Tories in for the rest of days. View AttachmentI've just read that the richest 10% in the UK own more than 40% of the nation's wealth. Meanwhile, the bottom 22% live in poverty. A shift of 10% or so either way is pretty inadequate.

Has inequality become far worse since 2010 though? Undoubtedly. Also, it was more to signify that New Labour weren’t ‘just a bunch of Tory knobheads.’ Regarding your Union point regarding Brexit, what on Earth were they expecting? Redwood, IDS, Rees-Mogg had the keys to deliver whatever Brexit they wanted.

Redwood, IDS, Rees-Mogg had the keys to deliver whatever Brexit they wanted. They're the lesser of two evils, I generally agree. Regarding Brexit, they probably were a bit naive, but I suppose their way of thinking was to vote out of the EU and then vote for a government that would deliver it in a way they hope. Unfortunately the country made a dreadful decision in the 2019 General Election - more so than the Brexit vote in my opinion.

Did he push Brexit? Has he said some very questionable things about the Russian invasion of Ukraine? China? Most trade unionists were pro-Brexit, although for entirely different reasons to the populist right Brexit we actually got. I wouldn't vote against someone purely because they didn't think we should be in the EU. I'd want to know what's their reasons and what do they want us to do instead. If it's just "too many foreigners" and vague points about "sovereignty", count me out. In fairness, no-one was really that arsed about the EU until the expansion to include the likes of Poland etc which brought with it mass abuse of freedom of movement. It was certainly not intended between the original member states that such huge numbers would emigrate, albeit wholly understandable they would.

Think is, these liberal media hacks who are so against the current situation all had a huge part to play in creating it. And seemed to enjoy it at the time.
Maitlis another one - wasn’t speaking out at the time she was fronting a doctored background of the LOTO to make him look like some sort of pro-Russia agent when, in fact, the PM was proven to be in the pocket of the oligarches.

It's ludicrous really isn't it that the Conservative Party has just 172,000 members. Barely 0.25% of the population, or one in 400 of us. It makes you realise what a small number of people the two candidates have been trying to impress.
It raises the question of whether the amount of airtime they've had is justified when so few of us can/wish to influence the results. Furthermore, it makes me wonder how we got in a situation where we have a "landslide" government that so few people wish to support or get involved with.

Can any of the Tory Boys on here give us an idea of how much more damage their team can inflict on us? Looking at the new Cabinet I genuinely fear for the future.

Looks like Kwasi Kwarteng wants to remove the cap on bankers' bonuses. Great, that's really dealing with economic priorities.
An investment banker should not be Chancellor of the Exchequer! It should be someone who has experience of carefully managing a budget like, dare I say it, a single mum.

Two hours in and I see Kwasi’s mini Budget is already causing economic meltdown, some achievement that. No doubt the Tory boys on here will be enthused about the cut in the top rate of income tax and the lifting on the cap of bankers’ bonuses.

Spent the last week travelling in the Balkans, visiting Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro.
Chatting to some people I met in Belgrade was a real eye opener. One was a highly qualified psychiatrist who said he used to do most of his work in Britain, now he doesn't bother as Brexit has made it too much hassle and works mostly in Germany and Austria. The NHS is missing out on talented and highly qualified medics. Also spoke to two Brits who had moved there and said they had no intention of moving back. They were finding it easier and more enjoyable to live in Serbia.
When I got back I was on an overcrowded train service from Manchester to Liverpool that was delayed by over an hour. I also saw more homeless people in an hour in Liverpool than I'd seen in a week in the Balkans.
The place is a shithole. There's no doubt about it.

With the market and pound in free fall I was wondering whether this is the result of ineptitude or a deliberate policy to short the pound and reward the casino capitalists who donate serious money to the Tory party. Any Conservatives on here able to answer this simple question about the party they support? Are they: A. Crap B. Criminal

Bit hasty blaming the Government for our economic Armageddon without checking the Tory press. Surprising to see they have absolved the Conservatives of any blame, it’s all the fault of ‘Remoaners’ City traders, the left wing IMF (no seriously) and economic jitters at the prospect of a Marxist Starmer Government. No doubt the hard of thinking Tory boys on here will be nodding sagely at all this.

The whole thing seems like a punt to me. Investment bankers are just gamblers in suits, instead of betting on football and horses they're betting on the economy. Problem is it's our money, not his. People like Kwarteng are not the type who should be trusted with national budgets.

Truss is now slashing the benefits of the poor to reassure investors panicking about unfunded tax cuts for the rich. What an absolute disgusting administration, people should be taking to the streets.

For what its worth, I think the whole trickle down thing could have worked just done better (no massive tax cuts for the wealthily but targeted tax breaks for taking on new employees, paying them right etc) and certainly not during a cost of living crisis that they've caused themselves. A mess really, who mini-budget should be scrapped and help actually given to the people that will need it this winter, surely thats got to be the priority.

I see Lee Anderson MP told a group of Young Conservatives at the Tory conference that there are ‘do gooders’ running food banks who are only doing it to feel good about themselves. Where do you even start with worldview like that, absolutely bleak.

I see Lee Anderson MP told a group of Young Conservatives at the Tory conference that there are ‘do gooders’ running food banks who are only doing it to feel good about themselves. Where do you even start with worldview like that, absolutely bleak. I've never understood how the term "do-gooder" became an insult. Those people who do good things, eh? They're what's wrong with the world. Remarks like that are why I get a bit frustrated when people try and shut down political talk and accuse you of forcing an agenda. Kindness, respect and empathy aren't politics, they're just basic qualities we're encouraged to have from a very young age. I don't understand why you would vote for such an overt display of the opposite.
