Would fancy a bet their wage bill is a lot higher than ours. We've never exactly been "full-time professionals" since reforming I don't think.
I reckon Sean Newton is on a tidy whack there. Seem to remember York fans moaning about how much he was costing them when Watson left.

I thought on the balance of play a draw was a fair result, because it was a game of two great defences but two inefficient frontlines. Our backline was excellent throughout the encounter to earn an impressive third clean sheet in a row, so we can be pleased on that part. However, I thought we should’ve done more in the final third to work Theo Richardson in the opposing net, as we were a bit hesitant to shoot at times. That’s the only criticism from me, as other than that it was a decent performance from us. The actual match itself was a scrappy, edgy affair on the 4G surface, which didn’t really help us in terms of keeping possession as we gave the ball away more than we would’ve wanted too. Buxton were similar to us on the day, as their defence was difficult for us to get past, while they didn’t test Harry Tyrer too much in the final third.
The first-half was relatively even, because for the first 20 minutes we were on top, however Buxton gradually got into the game as the half went on. We played some good football to begin with and had more of the ball in the Buxton half. It’s just a pity that we couldn’t build on that as the game went on, because admittedly the home side were more creative after the 20th-minute mark. The first chance arrived 15 minutes in, where a cross-cum-shot by Diego De Girolamo looped onto the roof of the net. Two minutes later Anthony Dudley tried to convert from a Darren Stephenson cross, but it was more of an air shot as the ball struck his standing leg. 18 minutes in Harry McHugh went close, as a long range attempt flew inches wide. Halfway through the half we had two chances in quick succession, as to begin with Dudley made Theo Richardson pull off a decent save, before Kurt Willoughby whipped the rebound just wide. With only three minutes of the half to go, Harry Tyrer claimed a long Sean Newton free kick. It was honours even at the break, with everything still all to play for.
Meanwhile, the second-period was more of the same. I thought that Buxton were the brighter side to begin with, however we came alive in the final 10 minutes, where we squandered a huge chance towards the end which would’ve probably won us the game. Two minutes into the half a Scott Boden free kick took a deflection, with Harry Tyrer eventually claiming the ball. With the hour mark within sight, a strong Harrison Burke effort was denied by Theo Richardson, before an Anthony Dudley shot took a deflection - presenting us with a corner. On the 70th-minute mark Diego De Girolamo blazed a free kick well over the crossbar, while eight minutes later Tyrer pulled off a great reflex save to prevent Sean Newton from breaking the deadlock. In injury time we had a fantastic chance right at the death, as Kurt Willoughby was agonisingly denied by Richardson. We had to settle for the point, as our unbeaten run still goes on.
It was a really solid defensive showing last Saturday, therefore my man of the match has to go to Matty Williams who was an absolute rock at the back. Matty won countless headers, made some heroic blocks, and put his body on the line to keep the game goalless, so a very well done to him. Jamie Morgan put in a good performance given he hasn’t started in a while, as Buxton found it tough to get past him. I have heard and read many different opinions about Kevin Roberts, so for the record I thought he didn’t do too well when trying to keep the ball, however he grafted very hard and worked tirelessly throughout. Probably a 6/10 game in my opinion for him. Joe Lynch put in a great little cameo when he came on by making things tick, so he deserves to start later on today in my opinion. Harry McHugh wasn’t at his best and looked a bit raw, however playing on an artificial pitch while being up against a Buxton side who were full of giants at the same time was never going to be easy for him. The injury to Kole Hall looked bad, and when limping off he didn’t look in a good state at all, so I really hope it isn’t anything too serious as we can’t be doing with having him out on the sidelines for a while. If that does prove to be the case though, then we should recall Zack Clarke from Runcorn Linnets who deserves a chance to get a good run of games under his belt.
For what it’s worth a point isn’t a bad result at all, although if we can back it up with three points later on then we should be in a far better place in the standings. Our next match is tonight as we take on Chorley away where we look to record our fourth clean sheet in a row. I am expecting a tough game as the home side have lost just two out of their opening nine encounters, but at the same time they are only one point above us, so hopefully it will be a close and competitive affair over in Lancashire.
