After nine games - one season versus another
Chester 2021 2022 season Won 2, Drawn 3 Lost 4 For 13 against 17 Chester 2022 2023 season Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 3 For 12 against 11
What facts do this tell us, if anything, about one season versus another. Anything to be drawn or too early to tell?
What do people think?

We are definitely in a far better place than this time last season. Three clean sheets in a row and five unbeaten, with a midfield that is still quite thin, speaks for itself. We are proving to be far more solid in defence which is a huge improvement on last campaign where we leaked goals for fun. In all fairness we did score a lot last season, and even though we don’t appear to be scoring as many this time out, we are proving to be hard to beat which is more important in my opinion. Still a long way to go, but we are showing lots of encouraging signs to really kick on. Calum McIntyre and our players were really up against it initially, whether it be due to some horrendous refereeing decisions which cost us points, or injuries, but it’s starting to click for us now. By the way, the female referee we had at Buxton yesterday was probably the best ref we have had all season, so credit to her where it is due. In my opinion we need to be going for all three points at Chorley on Tuesday, and if we do manage to achieve that then four points from back-to-back away games would be a good return. Plenty of positives to take from our opening nine games, so let’s hope we can push on and build this momentum as we have loads of potential to thrive both on and off the field.

Win on Tuesday and 15 points from 10 which is a good start which on average points would put us in or abouts playoffs.
After Darlington we have 3 winnable games on the spin so you’d think we’d want 7/9 or 9/9 from them to keep up momentum.
Lots of positives so far this season on and off the pitch and let’s hope it ends with a run at promotion.

If we beat Chorley on Tuesday it could lift us into the playoff places, if we lose we’ll be on the same number of points as we were this time last season. Still far too early to call things in my book - I reckon it’ll take us until around Christmas time for form to start settling down and to begin to determine whether we’ve got what it takes to mix it with the top sides. For all the positivity around the club at the moment, I haven’t felt as though our performances or indeed the quality of football have been particularly awe-inspiring thus far, but it’s difficult to come to a proper judgement considering all the absentees we’ve had and the fact we’re yet to really settle on a preferred tactic or lineup.

A young manager finding his feet at a new level, a relatively young squad missing its best, more experienced players. We're tighter at the back and a lot more disciplined. The atmosphere in and around the ground is so much better. The potential in this squad is exciting, as Cal says in his post match interview "wow" AND we're still in the cup.
We're doing just fine.
