Ok, so we aren't through but are in it. Any thoughts of a draw to spur us on in the replay? Could do with avoiding the nonsense that would come with drawing them lot up the road! Chesterfield or Notts County at home be good. Probably get Gateshead away.

Surely we want the lowest ranked team all the way to the 3rd round, then we want a massive team away from home in front of the tv cameras.

Goats.
Not at their place though, we’d get slaughtered.
At Deva. Narrow the pitch, 5,000+ in and guaranteed for TV which is around £50-75k.
Burke scores last minute winner after ending Mullin’s season earlier with a Ben Thatcher style elbow that goes unnoticed.

For once, I wouldn't particularly want our chums from across the border either. The whole thing would just become a circus, every loon from miles around would come out of the woodwork, and they'd be overwhelming favourites to beat us too (though a scruffy 1-0 win would be beyond delicious, obv.)

Totally agree with this. Let’s take off our blue-tinted glasses here - if we drew Wrexham the most likely scenario would be that they’d batter us, which would quite possibly sap morale for the rest of the season. Especially off the back of Calum’s interview yesterday, I really do worry what a tonking at the hands of our neighbours, and the inevitable pelters he’d get from some of our fans, would do to his confidence. Willing to bet the atmosphere wouldn’t be as good as in previous derbies either - it’d be swarming with complete Charlies who’ve been diehard goats since last year, especially if it were at their place. Surely a top National League side at home would be the worst possible draw though? Again we’d be heavy favourites to lose, and we wouldn’t even have a nice day out for our troubles or as big a crowd as if it were away from home. I’d still say the ideal tie would be at the Deva against a fairly weak side, in the same mould as these last couple of rounds, although I wouldn’t be adverse to an away fixture against a big ex-EFL side like Notts County or Oldham. Knowing our luck, we’ll probably get a great draw and then lose on Tuesday…

Wrexham home or away. Infact draw at their place take it to the Deva on a Tuesday night under the lights, beat them 1-0 Burke with a similar goal to the one he scored vs Southport. Infront of them as well. Hollywood statement the next day addressing the abuse they were subjected to will top it off.
Or of course a lower league team at home that we can beat.

I’d happily take Bury AFC at home if we can both win our replays. Think that tie would easily get a bigger crowd than if we drew the likes of Solihull or Gateshead, plus our chances of progression would obviously be higher.

Boring answer but at least until the 1st round I still want the easiest and most winnable home ties possible. However, that's basically what we've had so far and we're making hard work of it!

The ties for this round will commence on Saturday 15th October which is only a fortnight away, while the draw will take place on talkSPORT 2 at 15:15. This draw will again be regionalised so we will only draw teams from the Northern section, just like the previous round.
These are the teams that are likely to be placed in the Northern section: Altrincham Alvechurch Anstey Nomads Basford United or Boston United Blyth Spartans Buxton Chester FC or Hanley Town Chesterfield Clitheroe or Bury AFC Coalville Town Congleton Town or AFC Fylde FC Halifax Town Gateshead Hyde United Kidderminster Harriers King’s Lynn Town Notts County Oldham Athletic Peterborough Sports Scarborough Athletic or Curzon Ashton Scunthorpe United Solihull Moors South Shields St Ives Town Stocksbridge Park Steels or Ashington Worksop Town Wrexham York City.
My preference would be for us to have another home tie against a lower league side, to provide us with the best possible chance of reaching the 1st Round. While a big away day at somewhere such as Chesterfield, Notts County, or Oldham Athletic would be great, I just want us to reach the competition proper for the first time in years. With us now being in the sixth tier we obviously have to go through a few qualifiers, but that said to have reached the 1st Round just once in eight years is still not good enough. If we do manage to reach it this time around, then we can dream of getting a huge tie against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Bolton Wanderers, and Portsmouth. In the meantime, however, we obviously have to get past Hanley Town first on Tuesday. Disappointing that we couldn’t put the tie to bed yesterday, and if we don’t score early on at their place then the nerves will begin to jangle for sure. A replay is not ideal for us, but we still should have enough to win providing we have our shooting boots on this time. South Shields away is my prediction, as we haven’t had our obligatory cup trip to the North East yet 😉.

I was looking at a spreadsheet before for a list of the teams by the (usually reliable) ‘Non League Maps’ Twitter account, who obviously had a mix up. Don’t shoot the messenger 😆.

David Unsworth v Calum McIntyre would certainly be an interesting clash of managerial backgrounds. Think this tie is a good incentive for the club and, as said, we’ve gone decades without playing them in a competitive game so we should have a big away following. If there is one, then a replay at the Deva against them could potentially attract our highest home crowd of the season as well.
Just got to do the business tomorrow night now.

Reckon if we get through, Oldham will be moved to a Saturday lunch or Sunday KO?
Considering the trouble with the goats Saturday, coupled with the heavy police presence at Chorley when our firm of numpties showed up for their annual game and North Face fashion parade; I think it may just get moved !
(All hypothetical as Hanley await again)

Have to fancy us shifting 1.5k tickets for this. Hundreds of our "one game a season" fans will out the woodwork for it. The kind who only normally show up for Wrexham at home or away.

If we do get past Hanley, Wrexham (along with Bohemians and Celtic - if you believe social media) have now ruined what would be a good away fixture. I predict some over the top policing to follow.

Unfortunately it's Greater Manchester police force. Remember the over- reaction a couple of years back at Stockport where they had the riot police out in force and battering anyone who moved including a grandfather with his son and grandson.
