Nice draw for Hanley that. I think we all know a cock up is on the horizon...
It is the cup after all...

Difficult to argue with that to be fair, although funnily enough one of the most awkward grounds I've ever had to reach by public transport was Oldham's.

People going on the train go Victoria and get tram to Oldham, or Ashton Under Lyne is 5 miles from Oldhams ground.
If we go through

It is, from the train station it is an absolute disgrace, with no pubs near by, Telfords Whorehouse, which is decent tbf, The Eight Rights or Wagon and Horses

They'd be spot on. Like it or not, from an away supporters' perspective (and home as well for that matter), the Deva is one of the worst located grounds in the country. 30 minute walk from the city centre, 45 minutes from the train station, not a pub or decent food outlet within site, only a rubbish tip! Virtually impossible for any club's supporters to get home by train for a Tuesday night game (unless it's Wrexham, Crewe or Tranmere). If it weren't our ground and our club/city, we'd have it right near the top of our own "worst away days" list. Still think Oldham would bring over 1k for a replay though, they are an excellently supported club. Of all the North West based football clubs playing below the Championship aside from Bolton, Oldham are by far the biggest. Hopefully they can be arsed turning up for the game at Boundary Park if we get past Hanley because the gate revenue would be very helpful.

Bigger than Manchester.

Oldham aren't in great form, so this is a great opportunity for us if we can get past Hanley, hope the players put in a performance.

I love how excited Cal was in his post match interview and if that excitment and momentum carries into the squad and fans i see no reason why we can't beat Oldham. That big smile the call to the fans trains buses coaches planes he is like a breath of fresh air and the players will feel that, but aye Cal Darlin up next 100% behind you mate

I think it will be the first time since we were relegated from the NL over four years ago that we've played a team from that division. This is what makes our poor Cup and Trophy record all the more frustrating - we haven't even been knocked out by good teams.
Having said that, it is trickier than we might like to think for a side from our level to reach the 1st Round. I make it only 10 of the 24 in our league are still in the competition. I see Boston went out to a lower league side last night.

Been following Chester since the late 70s and I’m struggling to remember us playing Oldham in that time. When was the last time we played them?

When was the last time we played them? 1971 apparently, unless you count a couple of friendly meetings in the interim. One of those clubs that quite often seemed to be one division above us but never in the one we were actually in.

I think there may be engineering works on the rail network on the 15th Aye, replacement bus service and journey time to Manchester Victoria is between 90 minutes and two hours. Maybe split the journey via Crewe.

Supposed to be away but was switched to the Deva because their pitch was in poor shape.

Yeah there are.
£24 return if it’s Chester-Crewe then Crewe-Piccadilly
£14 return Chester-Piccadilly on the 90-minute mid-Cheshire set rattler
£14 return on a Replacement bus if it’s via Warrington Bank Quay and the bus is double the usual journey time.

The replacement buses are only for Northern replacing their Vic/Leeds train. Transport For Wales are still running but terminating at Warrington Bank Quay, you can then walk to Central and then catch the Liverpool to Nottingham train and get off at Piccadilly. Just another option.

Thanks that’s helpful, none of that was found on the various train booking websites. There's actually three trains an hour from Warrington Central but two of them terminate at Oxford Rd because of a lack of platforms at Piccadilly over the bridge. So at the very least you've got a regular service to Manchester as a whole.
