Amazing result, amazing performance, amazing support throughout even when we went 1-0 down we never stopped singing. Nearly 2000 of us packed in the chaddy which is incredible. Badly organised from Oldham's stewards, nearly chinned one of them the silly prick. Also the turnstiles were a joke 2 open for nearly 2000 jesus it was abysmal & waiting for 25-30 minutes before we could go in. Singing "pedo" to their mascot & "calling rooney a c**t were personal highlights haha. Had no idea who scored as everyone was just going mental. Williams & Burke were incredible. Dudley poor again. Also I think they are one of the worst sides I've seen for a while considering they're a league above us they were utter dogshit. On the whole was a great day out & hopefully will encourage some more supporters to come to the home games.
Very proud to be a Chester FC fan this evening & we'll batter them in the replay.

We absolutely deserved that draw for that second half performance. I actually felt a little disappointed we didn’t go for the win after we scored because we were so on top.
A few great individual performances, but some not so great. However, Coates was MOTM for me, to come back into the team after month out and put in that performance was unbelievable. What a player we’ve got there. 👏
First half we looked quite nervous and I thought we gave them too much respect and despite a couple of decent chances for ourselves, we rode our luck at times. Not sure what’s up with Kenyon, but I thought we missed his experience today.
Brilliant header from Burke for the goal and an equally important last ditch challenge he made when he picked up his injury. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, but he doesn’t half remind me of a younger version of George Horan. 🤞
Ref was poor as per usual for most games I’ve seen this season. I don’t think we’ll ever get a pen this season!
Last word for the fans, what a turn out and atmosphere. 👏 We seem to have these games every few years where everyone turns out. Be great to pack the Deva on Tuesday, but it will be interesting to see the draw on Monday.

Calum is cup manager. He gets one of matches, he gets this club and the fans because he is one of us. If he was not a manager he would be on the Harry Mac. The players have real character and they are in the battle with the fans.
With Neil Young we had league success but one thing we are starved of is a cup run. Maybe we will get a decent run this year.
Thanks Calum, staff and players for making me proud today.

Thought we were immense today, everyone put in a shift, supporters included. Kev Roberts played an absolute blinder, especially after some of the criticism he’s been getting recently.

At half time we could easily have been a few goals down. As others have said, we seemed a bit nervous and panicky, and the goal we conceded was pretty poor. To be fair to Oldham they approached that half exactly as you should if you're expected to win. I know you can't really call non-league football "gegenpressen" but it was that style of fast tempo and closing us down whenever we had the ball. They made it difficult for us to keep hold of it.
However, we've developed a knack of staying in games even when we're not playing well, and having made it to half time at 1-0 I had a feeling we might spring a surprise. Second half definitely belonged to us. I agree with the comparisons between Burke and Horan. There's something great about a thumping header from a centre-half from a corner, and that was a wonderful moment for him and for us.
It's felt like a long time since we had a day like that, and it's great to at least be in the hat for the 1st Round, but there's no reason why it has to end here.

What a game. What a day. What a club.
It's a shame the oldham stewards wanted their day and ruined it for quite a few.
What difference does a league position or Cup make to drinking in the ground/pitch view? Ridiculous rule.
Anyway on to Tuesday!

Proud of the boys and Cal + backroom staff
2nd half we were miles better and deserved the replay
Not even going to let the stewards behaviour with some of our fans spoil this day

Honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game so much. I'm younger than some, but older than many and am lucky enough to remember some cracking away days in our league days and that brought back some proper memories today. Thought 1-0 was probably fair at half time, but we absolutely bossed them second half and, on another day, we'd be celebrating a famous victory.
Still, we're in the hat on Monday and, though I don't expect us to have the same level of support (1967?) come Tuesday, if any performance/result can convert some new fans to come again, or convince the old fans that we're still alive, then surely that had to be it.
Proper buzzing!

Yeah I & a few others had a problem with a few of them at different points in the game. Bunch of jokers. Kicked off with a few of them when we scored aswell, what's wrong with letting us celebrate with the players when we score ffs??

Nothing to fear on Tuesday. Just need the fans to get the Deva bouncing like the Chaddy stand was today. Most Championship and League One clubs would be pleased with that away following today.
Need to play on that lad from Stoke we had who had a shocker against Hereford last season. He looks like a rabbit in the headlights when trying to defend.

Thought we looked nervous in the first half and Oldham's general play, passing, strength, and control made me concerned that the gulf would be too much for us.
But we stayed in it and grew in confidence throughout the match and got that deserved equaliser. Limbs everywhere.
Thought Kev Roberts was really good today.

If Oldham play like they did 2nd half we'll fucking hammer them. Totally agree Good man. Think they could be in trouble come the end of the season if that's how they play every game. Obviously I can only judge them on what I saw today but was highly unimpressed with them as a team & their shit support. Our fans made that atmosphere today, their lot offered nothing. Will be the same on Tuesday only difference this time is we will beat them.

Great comeback after a slow and nervous start. A couple of players really struggled to keep their composure in the very early stages, Tyrer, Coulton, Coates, Devine & Roberts in particular. The main thing was staying in the game, yes we rode our luck a bit as they had a few chances, albeit most of them off target. We had a small handful of efforts.
Different story after the break as we had a right go at them, they lost their way and we visibly grew in confidence. Right result in the end on the balance of play.
Burke & Williams excellent throughout, Roberts & Hall both improved massively in the second half. I know I’m in the minority, but I thought Dudley did well. Feel like a lot of people missed some good subtle things he did. Credit to Edwards as well, had hardly no game time at all but had to come on in at the heart of the defence when they were going at us late on.
Felt great in that away end with a brilliant atmosphere. There’s no doubting there’s plenty who don’t go often or who were just a bit curious on the day in there. You can only hope that some of them liked it and fancy coming a bit more often, same Tuesday. This is why the FA Cup is important to clubs like us, anything can be a catalyst for change and improvement but it’s very often the FA Cup.
Oh and surely we should have had pen in the second half? Looked a stone bonking straight handball from where I was.

I thought the Oldham stewards were fine as were the police. Throwing flares onto the pitch is an offence as the many signs said so around the ground. No doubt it will be picked up and reported. Maybe our club will be fined - I hope not. Crossing the barrier onto the pitch is also an offence. I'm surprised it needs saying. The behaviour of a small number of our fans when celebrating crossed a line.

I think Anders' post above nails it for me. Once the nerves calmed down we were the better side. The support was phenomenal - Oldham fans saying we were the loudest they'd had at Boundary Park for years. Kev Roberts was my MoM, he won everything second half. Burke and Williams were excellent too. Liam Edwards looked calm and assured when he came on. Having seen the handball footage, it should have been a pen for us. No reason why we can't go at them from the first whistle on Tuesday as and go through.

Looked a stone bonking straight handball from where I was. Agree with all that. Early on we were very passive. Can understand why, but it meant we were under pressure as we couldn't keep the ball. The fullbacks both really struggled first half. Maybe the lack of protection didn't help, as the midfield were really narrow. Tollit is a decent player though, so tough for Coates. I also thought Dudley did well. Worked hard and got us up the pitch. I don't like Willoughby wide though. He's a goal scorer. Played wide nullifies him. He doesn't have the pace to cause a problem out there. We seem to have a lot of players who are better central. Unless Stephenson or the full backs push on it can be difficult to find space. I thought Oldham restricted our passing options well first half. Second half we were more aggressive and put them under pressure. This pushed them back. They seemed content to just move the ball around the back and play the game out. Can't see Unsworth lasting long with those tactics. I see he's been blaming lack of fitness as an excuse. Typical new manager under pressure comment. His knowledge of NL players must be limited given his previous roles. We'll still need a bit of luck to get through this tie. Oldham may be a bang average NL team, while we're a decent NLN team. Cut the errors out, or get a bit of luck, and we can get through.

Thought Oldham shot themselves in the foot. They were so on top early on, should have pressed for a second. Their wide men were giving us all sorts of trouble, little intricate one two’s then slipping it behind our full backs.
Actually thought we played okay for the last twenty minutes of the first half and then you could feel the momentum start to swing as we gained more territory and won more second balls in the second half. Rooney was running the show for them so can only assume he was injured or not match fit.
Oldham have gone 1-0 up in their last 4/5 games and not won, you could sense their nerves and we grew in stature.
But please no more of this fancy set piece routines; the one ball that went into the box we scored from. Teams are expecting us to do something fancy, surprise them and whip it in.
The subs helped especially Lynch, he’s so busy

We rode our luck first half, but I felt if we could get to the break only one down, we’d have a chance. We played further up the pitch and Roberts took the game by the scuff of the neck, while they lost a couple of key players to injury. On balance, we thoroughly deserved the draw. A superb day out. Had a lump in my throat after the huddle before kick off and at full time too. Something special is happening.

It was unnecessary behaviour from their stewards in the first place. Clearly great at what they do as someone still managed to get flares in. They all want sacking. Jokers.

Brilliant day and a well deserved result. We're not a particularly expansive side but others have said, we defend really well and can withstand periods of pressure which makes a nice change.
Nerves definitely got to a few of our players to begin with and Oldham looked a real threat for about 30 minutes. Coulton and Tyrer definitely seemed on edge and it showed with their goal which was totally avoidable. Tollit was causing problems and we struggled to string two passes together. The tide began to turn towards the end of the first half and we gained a bit of composure and time on the ball - thought Williams and Burke showed maturity to be willing to take the ball under pressure and keep possession.
Second half was all about tempo and urgency - the players were bang up for it and we seemed to move 10 yards up the pitch. We were first to the ball far more often and the momentum began to build. The goal was a wonderful moment - yes it's only a draw against a National League side but days like yesterday have been few and far between in recent years and for Harrison to score it in front of the away end was more or less perfection. It had an Astles away at Tranmere vibe - again, that was only a point but the away end will live long in the memory.
Cal is right when he says it's not been a particularly good nor bad start to the season, but watching our team yesterday should give us all huge excitement for the future. How many of those players are young, ambitious and will play higher? I think you could count Burke, Williams, Coates, Weeks & Hall in that list as a certainty, not to mention the likes of Stanway and Heywood out on loan at the moment. The future is bright and potentially lined with some big transfer fees.
My only hope now is the replay isn't a damp squib. Barnsley away was a brilliant day but I remember the replay being a total non event. I'm sure that won't happen this time - it'd be brilliant to get a good crowd in and build some momentum because that away end yesterday was magnificent.
MOTM by a country mile was Kevin Roberts for me - particularly in the second half, he was absolutely everywhere.
