Not apportioning any blame for last night whatsoever, but what was the deal with our lads slipping all over the place and Oldham’s not? Not just the two missed penalties but quite a few slips in that area of the pitch during the game (Williams on the edge of the box in extra time, forcing him to make a tactical foul to stop their lad getting in behind).
I’ve noticed this season we do tend to over-water the pitch, perhaps for tactical reasons, but that shouldn’t mean the away team are used to the conditions and we’re not.
Any ideas whether it’s down to type of studs some of our lads are using or what?

Matty Williams changed boots when we defended the Hipkiss Stand in second half.

The same happened in the youth cup game on Friday night at that end. Chester player had chance to put us through on pens but his standing foot slipped and ball went over the bar. Fortunately in that game the youth team still won.

Same thing was happening to both sides on Saturday as well. Strange really as both teams warm up on the pitch and you’d know near enough straight away whether you’ve got the right boots on or not
