A cup tie between Team A and Team B has gone to penalties and is currently tied at 10-10, with only the goalkeepers left to take their penalties.
The goalkeeper for Team A steps up and his kick is saved by the goalkeeper from Team B. The Team B goalkeeper then immediately punches the Team A keeper in the head, knocking him out cold. The Team B goalkeeper is sent off and the Team A keeper has to go off injured, but there is still one kick to be taken. Does the referee allow Team A to go back to their first choice of taker, who only has to score against an outfield player to win the tie?
I don't know the answer to this by the way, I'm wondering if anyone does. The example is extreme and pretty ridiculous but could it be to a goalkeeper's advantage to somehow get himself sent off in this situation?

I would imagine (but i'm not sure) that they would go through the unused subs first. once that is done then i think they would go through the original penalty takers in order of how it decided it the beginning until someone missed. This of course would only happen IF the offending goalies team take theirs and score it.

Whilst the red card offender is walking off the field, email friend at Daily Mail to complain about the impending outcome whatever it may be.

Both goalkeepers are to be replaced by a substitute (weird even if it’s a red card you can still be subbed off if it is a goalkeeper). Kick would be retaken using the sub as it was the goalkeeper that committed the offence. If it was the kicker that committed the offence then the penalty is recorded as missed (even if he scored) and the match continues

Sounds like Team B are Fylde. Subconsciously it may have been them that was making me think of unsporting penalties scenarios.

In your scenario keeper A has taken his penalty, so why would Team A have another penalty with their first choice of taker?

But I think Lon has answered the question anyway.
