Means a win tonight would take us 3rd and two points off the top!

If Brad Jackson is being touted out on loans by Alty, wouldn’t mind seeing him back at the Deva for a stint.

Bad night for Fylde really. What a shame for them.
Buxton seem to be getting a few results together. I thought they would do a lot better this season.

Bad night for Fylde really. What a shame for them. Buxton seem to be getting a few results together. I thought they would do a lot better this season. I think Fylde will sadly still win the league, with a few games in hand they could pull away this month and next. KL won’t be far behind either. Both can’t survive in NL let alone league 2 with their 800 fans. Scarborough result is a good one for us - win the next 3 or 7/9 points and I’d say we seen some daylight then between us and 8th.

From what I hear round here, Buxton is a bit of a mess. A chairman who can't keep his hands off, a constant merry-go-round of players, managers unable to settle because of what is going on (Vermiglio). Money is being spent, but there is no real settled formula. Maybe Craig Elliott can get a tune out of it?

Apparently only had 8 fit players with their keeper playing as a forward

Apparently only had 8 fit players with their keeper playing as a forward He might well get into trouble for that, but I can see his point. We shouldn't have extra time for minor regional cup games that nobody wants to go on all night. Extra time and then penalties for me. In fact I'd support that for all competitions.
Also, am I right in thinking Andy Whing was originally Bignot's first choice for assistant manager when he was here, but it didn't happen for some reason?

That's poor from their manager. Having played 90 minutes he should have committed to the extra 30 minutes and possible penalties having started the game. Not knowing extra time was a possibility is no excuse. If he felt he didn't have enough available players in the first place then why not concede before the game or would that have incurred a fine? And as for packing it in before the conclusion does that not incur some kind of sanction?

Update: Feb 21st.
A full complement of midweek NLN has been ruined by a broken boiler at Haig Avenue. Southport v Spennymoor is postponed tonight due to no hot water.
Last night Blyth Spartans made it two wins in 48 hours with a 1-0 victory at fellow strugglers Bradford Park Avenue who have now lost four of their last five games. Both teams are now level on 33 points, one point clear of the drop zone which Leamington have now fallen into.
Aside from Telford cut adrift it’s pretty tight at the bottom with the other three relegation places - four points between Kettering in 18th and Boston in 23rd.

Boston have been doing us a favour lately, considering they’re struggling near the bottom. Wins over Darlo and Brackley either side of losing in injury time to us. It’s a shame we couldn’t quite hold on to take advantage last night, we’d have ended the night in fourth place.
Fylde losing at home to Hereford was a shock.
Take a look a the bottom seven…
18. Kettering 35pts 19. Leamington 33pts 20. Boston 33pts _____________________________________ 21. Bradford PA 33pts 22. Farsley Celtic 33pts 23. Blyth Spartans 33pts 24. Telford 20pts

Saw a few comments after we played Telford over Christmas that people thought their results would improve under Kevin Wilkin and they’d at least close the gap on the teams above them, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. Even if they won their next four games and the other teams in trouble lost them, they’d still be bottom of the table.

I watched the goals Hereford scored at Fylde and the Fylde keeper made an absolute howler on the first goal. The ball was running out of play for a goal kick and for some reason he scrambled on the touch line to keep the ball in presenting the Hereford player with a tap in.The second one he should have saved as well.

'BRADFORD (Park Avenue) are facing a crisis ahead of tonight's crunch clash at home to Scarborough Athletic.
Avenue are currently a point from safety in National League North, and in desperate need of victory against a side who are up among the play-off places in the Seadogs.
But Mark Bower's squad are in an extraordinary situation, with 11 players out injured, a case of Covid in camp, and Reece Staunton suspended after his red card against Blyth Spartans.
Avenue put a case forward to the National League to have the game postponed, but say they were told they would face a possible financial penalty, a points deduction or even being expelled from the league if they failed to fulfil the fixture.
They have therefore cobbled together a squad for the game tonight, which contains five academy players and a new loan signing in Daniel Benson from Barnsley.
Avenue have even had to take the extraordinary step of signing assistant manager Danny Boshell, who officially retired from playing three years ago, on a non-contract deal, in order to bolster their matchday squad.'

Good point for BPA tonight holding Scarborough 0-0, despite a very depleted squad.

Scarborough drawing is a good result for us as it puts us 2 points behind them with two games in hand. Win tonight and we're setting ourselves up well. Brackley and Darlo aren't playing so we've got the chance to get to third, albeit with teams having a game in hand. Probably too late for a title charge but never say never. Looking at recent seasons teams generally need about 65 points to get playoffs. We've still got 39 points to play for and looking at our remaining fixtures I'd probably be happy with about 20/39 which takes us to 76 points and should get us in the playoffs.

I think I would side with the NL here actually, even if they are being a bit overly officious as usual. It's unfair on the other team to call it off at short notice, and where do you draw the line? Just get the game played and see it as an opportunity to give some young players a go. It sounds like they came through it alright anyway.
