What about the Peterborough fan that will have travelled? What fans? 🙃 They can enjoy a lovely day out in a beautiful city and pop back into their Mini back to Peterborough after tea. That’s why I used “fan”, singular.

The communication from the club has improved 100 percent recently but I think they have fallen short on this one. Nothing on the official website to say the game was in doubt or even there was a pitch inspection planned They literally appealed on twitter on Thursday for people to help put the frost covers. Whilst the drop in temps Friday was all over the news, nobody forcasted such a drop temperature last night. They put the postponement on at 10.31am this morning. Don't see what else they could do really? This is plenty of time to stop anyone travelling from Peterborough. Actually made me smile that PS travelled up and wasted money. Sugar daddy clubs get no sympathy here.

I never realised Chester FC's Facebook page had so many experts on meteorology and frost prevention among its followers.

First available date for the rearranged game would be 14th February.
So start preparing excuses to make sure you're free to go to the game.

It was inevitable that this was going to be off as soon as a 10:30 inspection was called.
I was in Chester Market around midday and spoke to a fella who had his Seals bucket hat and scarf on - he wasn't aware the game was off.
It begs a question about publicity of the club in the City centre and how we can utilise it more, certainly on match days. If a supporter of the club didn't know it had been called off, what are the odds on any of the Chester public (and tourists) knowing we've even got a game (or football club), full stop?
With our ties with what appears to be a Chester supporting MP, is this something we could look at in future with her support? A Match Day fixture board as a minimum would be great. let alone projecting the fixtures on to the Town Hall, Eastgate Clock or across that hideous football shop in City Centre..
Who knows, we may even get some Chester merchandise being sold by them scouse pair near the old Disney...

3 o'clock and the ground here in Boughton showing no signs of being frozen. Pushed a cane into the grassed area and went in easily up to a depth of over six inches, no frost at that depth and it's been uncovered. Unless the Deva pitch had been deep frozen last night (while covered) it should be playable now and with no prospect of freezing again over the next few hours.
Surely the postponement was a bit early particularly with the opposing team already being here since last night.

Their manager has had a bit at a pop at us on twitter for not calling it off yesterday before they travelled.
Let’s be honest, a referee isn’t going to call a game off a day in advance on a pitch which is playable and covered for what was forecast. It’s just unfortunate that we got worse than what was forecast, so he needs to wind his neck in really.

If they want to do that in January when there's always a fair chance of games being postponed, that's the risk they take. No way should we call off games earlier than necessary just because of their extravagance.

It's 2023 and the people of Chester still don't know we have a club. There is zero knowledge or publicity of it in the City centre but there's been some great work done by the club that could be extended given the relationships being built with the likes of Storyhouse, Council and so on. Stick to being an absolute mess of a man you little dweeb.

If they can afford to do that, they can afford to lose their expenses when the frost hits.

Peterborough originally asked us to inspect at 2.30pm on Friday but the pitch was 100% playable at that point as we’d no overnight frost and the temperatures were up to seven degrees with sunshine, so completely irrelevant. We informed them of the forecast, arranged for pitch covers to be put down across the main parts of the pitch and explained we would check as early as possible on Saturday, but unfortunately the temperatures were a couple of degrees lower than forecast, which ultimately beat us.

Daft decision to call this off, especially with them already here. Later pitch inspection. Push KO time back, suppose it gives more time for injury recovery and new signings to settle in.

Not everyone reads/ uses Facebook to get club information surely as I mentioned the official website should have carried the news of inspection/postponement? On the subject of overnight stays did the blues not do it this season?(can't remember where) you certainly can't call us a sugar daddy club

It was minus temperatures overnight and there's been frost on the ground all day today. I'm sorry but anyone who set off to the game today without checking it was on lacks common sense.

After the Telford game, one character on Facebook was "correcting" everyone (including the club itself) that the attendance wasn't 3,007, but 3,700. Another, who clearly wasn't there, said Telford must have brought at least 700! Who are these people and who is creating them?
