Wrexham had to play a hell of a lot of games to reach the Welsh Cup Final. Which included teams like Hereford, Shrewsbury etc etc Not to mention the BIG TWO in South Wales... The biggest joke in football I've seen is the route to the Semi-Final of the Cheshire Senior Cup? You play two games and your in the Semi-Finals? Hilarious and... You've only made it to the Final ONCE in the last 5 seasons... 2016 - Stockport County 2-1 Tranmere Rovers (AET) 2015 - Northwich Victoria 2-3 Macclesfield Town 2014 - Northwich Victoria 2-1 Tranmere Rovers 2013 - Chester FC 2-1 Stalybridge Celtic 2012 - Nantwich Town 1-0 Stalybridge Celtic Oh come off it! I think your beginning to believe your own goat blowing hype ! Hereford and Shrewsbury also treated the WC with little seriousness. The real competition back then, was between the four welsh professional sides ironically playing in the English League. Cardiff and Swansea struggled in the bottom divisions for years. Which leaves the “mighty” Newport County who also had their day in the European sun. Sorry I forgot about the giants of Merthyr Tydfil and Bangor City. So wrecsam qualifying to play in Europe was hardly a massive achievement in the 70's and 80’s. The club clearly benefitted from an unfair competition given the veneer of credibility from the involvement English sides. You also ought to know that winning the Cheshire Senior Cup does guarantee qualification for Europe which might explain its lack of popularity! !

Wrexham playing in Europe was a massive achievement, beating Porto and almost beating Anderlect a team which was one of the best at the time in Europe,a part of history which will never go away.

Remember Newport County, Bangor City and Merthyr Tydfyl ? - so your hardly unique. Given the welsh-only rule for this competition Chester and English clubs were never allowed this priviledged opportunity that the goats and others had. But of course the goats also enjoyed the full benefits of the English set-up lets not forget. So yes, you had your moment many moons ago, as did other lower league welsh clubs. But qualifying for Europe from winning a weak and effectively rigged competition in the favour of a few welsh clubs, is hardly a "massive" achievement.

Just a thought Mr Goat, why would an English team treat the Welsh Cup with any real seriousness when there was no real reward ? unlike the 1 in 4 chance wrecsam had of winning it and then rather shabilly enter European competition. But those glamorous foreign trips (Magdeburg really ?} must seem like another age and a world away for you now, which will never be repeated - unless of course you play in your own national league. I can well imagine that you prefer dwelling on events decades ago, as conveniently this goat blowing avoids facing up to the reality of being non -league for over 10 years. It must really hurt .

FFS when are the school holidays over. I remember the mighty Borough United playing in Europe - big bloody deal.

For such a MASSIVE club you still live on past glories. If the welsh cup is such a great competition i suggest you piss off and play in it. Oh i forgot you won't will you? because you prefer to prostitute yourselves in the english system

Germany has a history they're not proud of, but they still have to accept it.

In those days these top flight clubs sent the best 11 they could send (non of this 2nd string crap). The team we beat were the team that played in the top flight the saturday before bowdown.gif

Oh Deary me, I know its hard, but goat fans need to accept your current reality . Waving historical records around and bragging about winning a couple of tinpots in the last 20 years really does no good. You have had your moments , and so have we. But goat fans are in denial, and I hate to remind you, that you've been non-league for over 10 years and counting. Given your recent failure and current circumstances it looks like you are looking backwards to try and big yourselves up and pretend you are football force, which is so clearly not the case.

A Wrexham fan harking back to the 70's again, now there is a surprise! Didn't you also spawn a win in Europe in that decade for the first time in years of trying after qualifying (by beating Dynamo Dolgellau in the Welsh Cup final after a third replay)? Is that why your fans dress like they are still in that decade, harking back to those glory years when the likes of Rapid Rhewl and Spartan St Asaph feared Wrexham in the Welsh Cup?? Oh what would you do for the magical trips we had sonny? Magdeburg . Porto. Roma. Zurich etc etc etc Not to mention our distinguished domestic Cup wins and Cup runs? Whilst your club hasn't made the rd round of the FA Cup yet! As for the Welsh Cup...We're record 23 times winners! That club which the fans killed called Chester competed in the same competition every season winning it (drumroll) TWICE! You competed in the same competitions, fielded the same ******g side your fans bleat on about when 'you had a helluva side' and they achieved sweet nothing apart from a League Cup semi-final in '75. No European Cup Winners Quarter Final No F.A Cup Quarter-finals etc etc etc You've only won the Cheshire *******g Senior Cup once since you reformed. EDIT.... BUT You went to the Isle Of Man Tournament ........150 years for four nights out in Europe?? Hang on you've got those glorious nights in Penmaenmawr and Machynlleth in the Welsh cup to reflect on as well.

The fact the club are looking to invest in it shows ambition.
