V different game tomorrow than Saturday. Prepare for an aerial bombardment/route 1 football. Hope Burke has recovered from his knock on Sat as I can see us needing his height/physicality.
….and hey, let’s keep the coins, beer, etc off the pitch please regardless of what happens. 🙏

We’ve been far from convincing at home for a good while now and we all know what to expect from Alfreton who are in good form. Just do not give them too many setpieces or throw-ins in our own half 🪖
With Rhead and Denton in their squad, I think we could do with Hall’s height as we aren’t the biggest teams, but don’t know what’s happened to him?
Tyrer
Coates, Burke/Kenyon, Williams, Brown
Hughes, Roberts, Weeks
Hall, Willoughby, Stephenson

Kenyon might be our best equipped centre half to deal with Rhead or Denton. He won't get shoved around so much.
As others have said, we need to keep the ball on the pitch as much as possible. As any throw in or set piece will be launched into our box. Feel sorry for young players trying build a career and work on their skills in games like these. It's what's held British football back for decades.
They haven't conceded in 3, and are in good form. Tough game. If we play as well as we can, and get a bit of luck, we'll win this.
Chester 2-1 Alfreton Weeks, Willoughby. 1750 there to watch 6+ yellow cards, but a ref that still doesn't give basic shoves and pushes.

I like him as a defender but whilst he might not get shoved about I don't think he'll win many headers. Seem to recall the Kings Lynn game where he barely won a header against their big lad for 45 mins, one of which resulted in a flick on for the goal. Tactics definitely need to be around avoiding cheap free kicks and throw ins in dangerous areas. Rhead absolutely loves it here, the classic pantomime villain who revels in scoring against us, he'll be well up for it.

Another draw tonight would equal a club record of six draws in a row set in 1986, or beat it if you include the Trophy game at Farsley.
Need to win tonight really. The unbeaten run is impressive but 5 points from 15 isn't great. If we'd won the two home games we could've lost at Telford, Fylde and Brackley and still had a better record.

It’ll be two months this Thursday since Alfreton last conceded a goal. So we’re putting three past them
Chester 3-0 Alfreton. Willoughby, Hughes, Weeks.
2,311 with 36 away

I'll be pessimitic as normal in the hope i am wrong, Chester 2 Alfreton 3.
What happened to James Jones who used to play centre back for us, he went to Salford, came back on loan at some stage, think he moved to Alfreton afterwards.
Crowd 2453 (i'm taking 2 rare attendees and a newbie).
I always fear Rhead, he does well against us, remember him getting applauded off pitch by East Stand after he played for Lincoln against us

Should be 2,000 plus with the tenner offer.
3-1 The Seals.
Seems a big Rhead love-in. He's only scored six all season, including two pens. He's no King Kurt! 🤴🙄

Would take Rhead here tbh. Big bruising bastard would be valuable in the dressing room too.
Going for a 3-1 win 2406 in attendance

Always an entertaining game against these it seems, often a lot of goals and last gasp levellers or winners for us. Matt Rhead lapping up his pantomime villain role adds to it as well.
Aside from the first season we met them (2013/14) when both sides won their away fixtures 1-0, ever since then it’s been all Chester home wins and Chester away draws. Good omen for tonight, especially as we really need six points this week.

Coates and Edwards in, Morgan dropped to bench and Burke ruled out. Heywood called up to the bench.
Otherwise an unchanged 16.

Fecking hell we look small in the warm up lol
Fancy us to be far too sharp for these stumps though. 3-0 with goals from Kurt, Caton and Weeks.
