Being pedantic this will be Luton's first appearance in the Premier League. They were relegated from the old First Division, along with Notts County and West Ham, the season before the Prem started. So they were relegated from the First division to the First division as it was known at the time before changing to the Championship in 2004.

Ships in the night indeed- in May 2018, Luton manager Rob Edwards left his position as manager of NLN club AFC Telford by 'mutual consent'.

Chester connection here....elderly lady I exchange memories with on social media from Saltney. She married a Scott, Bobby Hamilton who played for us after the war and they moved to Yeovil where he played with Alec Stock when they had a memorable FA Cup win against Sunderland. They became good freinds with Alec who then went on to manage Luton. Bobby Hamilton played an FA Cup game for us against Stoke around 1946 and scored. We lost 3-2.Stanley Mathews was playing.Bobby Hamilton died about 10 years ago but his wife is enjoying life in her nineties.

Probably most memorable in our meetings for causing the kop end wall to collapse at Sealand road after Ian Edwards late winner.

I didn't realise till I read it online somewhere that they were relegated to the Conference with us in 2009.

I tend to think of them as belonging high up the ladder, as they were a top-flight club when I was growing up. But it’s a measure of their recent climb that it’s just under 10 years ago they were being held to a draw at the Deva by a part-time Chester side containing the likes of Jason Jarrett and Craig Lindfield.

I remember we were unlucky not to win the game against them at the Deva. McNulty was playing for them and got away with a blatant handball in the box. Amazing to go from non-league to Premier League in less than a decade. Even quicker than Wimbledon managed it.

True but they also had a lot of ground to make up with poor finances. My point is we hear so much about the biggest budget means success, but Luton show a well run stable club is capable of success. I think we are on the right track with Callum and the back room staff. Looking forward to next season

Luton's fanbase means their ceiling will always be significantly higher than ours, the Premier League is a realistic dream for a club like them (which is now a reality). For us, our ceiling would be L1, as it is for other similar sized clubs such as Cheltenham, Morecambe, Accrington etc. Granted it's not beyond the realms of impossibility that a club our size can have a Burton/Yeovil like magic foray into the Championship for a year or so. But the chances of that happening are slim to none. Still, it's nice to dream!
