Really happy with this. Liked him a lot the first time around, and with him and Turnbull it gives us some real bite in that area which is something we have lacked in recent times.

Pleased to see him back and I'd have thought most others are too.
This summer is reminding me in reverse of the summer when Shrewsbury signed several of our players on the Bosman ruling (Davies, Drummond etc). We seem to be doing the same thing with Macc's squad this year.

What can possibly go wrong?
This is Chester we're talking about.

James can break up play and loves a good tackle. His area for improvement from when he was with us the first time has to be his range of passing. I felt he played too many aimless balls over the top, albeit in a poor squad. I honestly think that's the only reason he's not made the football league yet, which is a bonus for us and a loss for them. Turnbull can spread a ball like butter on toast, and with KJ to win us possession we've got a real force there!

Didn't see this as happening, but pleased it has. With Hannah and James coming back we are obviously a well liked club. 👏

Do you mean that "aimless" ball he launched in behind Ashton for Big Ben to volley home in the 94th min?

He clearly has something missing from his game to have not made FL. I wasn't posting to critique the lad, he's a brilliant signing at this level, maybe our most exciting this summer for me! I was just pointing out his only real weakness and why he probably hasn't made it higher up the pyramid yet. With Tunbull being more technical, and KJ being more aggressive, we have a perfect balance.

Fantastic signing, as others have said we've now got some bruising but quality lads in the middle with James, Turnbull and Shaw.
Most optimistic I've seen us a fan-base since we returned to the Conference. Roll on August...

What an outstanding signing. I never thought we would manage to get him, but it makes for greater reading he has signed for two years. A proper midfielder who is great in the tackle and can pick out the perfect pass, and another coup from Macc. I can't be reading the Silkmen forum right now as I am overjoyed with this news and the signings which Jon has made. This clearly shows that we are sending a statement to our league without the use of a sugar daddy. I really can't wait for August now, and I can't wait to see these guys in action. It's also great to see the apathy disappear on here and see the optimism return, so buy your season ticket if you haven't already! COME ON YOU BLUES!! Welcome back to Chester FC Kingsley! 🔵⚪️

Best signing of the summer so far for me, and that is saying something with the lads we have on board (and those we kept......well mostly)
Is anyone else starting to get a little worried about the amount of cash we are splashing?
I know, I know, Sam's fee and all that, but, does it really cover the wages of all these 2 year contracts?

Wow! Another great signing! Slow down Macca! At this rate you will destroy my pessimism, brought on by so many years of supporting the blues

never seen this coming at all sounds like going from the chronicle they have both been in contact for a while prior to the deal i'd have 11 Kingsley James in midfield then our former captain who departed last week at least with Kingsley he will give it his all despite his form dropping after Southport away

Wow. Genuinely surprised and very pleased with that. I think we must be maxed out now. To me this looks like a solid top half of the table squad which is just 3-4 players short of being contenders. What a good pre-season this has been. What a shame that the season will have to kick off at some point.

It was only the other day I read he was being linked with Lincoln. The calibre of signings can only help attract other decent players too.

At the start of last season I thought we were genuine relegation contenders as it seemed novices Macca and Ian Sharps, and as it transpired lack of funds, resulted in a very thin and inexperienced squad with no room for bolstering things in January. What a difference a year makes, prudence, planning and no little ambition has resulted in what looks like the strongest National League squad that we have had. We really need to get behind this team and see where it takes us. We might need a bit of patience as there are many new faces in what you would expect to be the starting 11, but at least we have clusters of players who have played together before which should help. The dark clouds have lifted and BLUE sky is showing through, can't wait!!

Just checked the Macc forum and they really do seem to have high opinions of themselves. Don’t think some of them realise just how much they keep punching above their weight. I have time for them as a club, but yeah, some of the fans need to get with it a bit more.
