1-0 Willoughby. 2,399 and a lot of pissed off people on here. Because we’ve won, the same toxic people have found something else to be pissed off about. I’d just find another hobby me.

Best performance I’ve seen for some time much more entertaining and productive than the slow buildup tippy tappy sideways play that we have been subject to. Good to see a real captain’s influence on the team and I thought Hugill was brilliant. Puzzling that the players didn’t go the Harry Mac at the end of the game and Cal disappeared down the tunnel before the end. I don't think it's puzzling they didn't come over to the fans. They got dogs abuse last week. They probably sense we as a fan base can get a bit toxic at times so the 'bond: is broken etc. CM doesn't help matters with constant references to it either. It's not like other fans don't get arsey and it has to be said the majority of fans are right behind him and wish him to succeed. He would be wise to remember that. Still petulant though isn’t it? That was last week. The team got full support today from the first whistle to the final whistle. Bit of acknowledgement wouldn’t have harmed would it?

That was the only negative today, even after the warm up there was no acknowledgement from the players to the supporters which whether it's a player or managerial decision was petty and uncalled for. I took that as a "we mean business" type statement. They came out, played really well, won the game and kept a clean sheet. That's far better than milking it.

I think the players will be really up for this. I can see us getting an early goal and winning 3-0. Unbelievable prediction . Please can I have your lotto numbers ?

Great showing today. Bainbridge, Burke, Woodthorpe all excellent, nobody didn't perform, but Tom Peers was outstanding. Following his interview after last weeks horrorshow he stood up and gave his best performance in a Chester shirt. So pleased he got his goal.
Feel for some of the anti Chester FC lads on here, tonight was supposed their night. They were ready for it, but the team pissed really on their chips.

Everything went right today.
The whole team played well and everyone put a real shift in. We played a proper style of football, and if we play like that the crowd will be right behind them and the Manager. Win, Lose or Draw.
We moved the ball through midfield and forward to the strikers. There was no tippy tappy sideways stuff from either team, there wasn't the time or the room to do that.
The issue we have now is that we don't have a squad where we can play that style and formation every week. We don't have the midfield replacements like for like. Be interesting to see if there's any outs and ins over the next few weeks. I am a little surprised it's taken Cal this long to change things around. Let's hope this is the new look Chester.

Also thought the ref was decent today for once. Generally let the game flow but got involved with dodgy fouls Weird how he handled the silence/remembrance at the start though. Everyone fell silent, blew his whistle about a minute in, everyone starts clapping thinking it's over then it carries on so people awkwardly kept clapping.

Certainly brave from Calum. Can't be accused of stubbornness or refusing to accept he's previously got it wrong. It's got a bit of a feeling of a last throw of the dice but why not? Hope it works. The disappointing thing is we could see it apart from Cal, even last season it was so obvious.

Enjoyed that today. Style of football is something we can get behind.
I think some of the abuse and hounding out, when unfounded or idiotic is what drives a wedge between fans and players.
I said last week I think his time is up. Does that change from today? Yes a little. Did it mean I turned up today wanting to see us beat? No. Never.
Feel like there’s an undertone to some people with Cal and I reckon a few turned up today hoping it would be his last game.
There’s ways to put things, and it’s usually the older social media users and the faceless twitter ones who create the toxicity.
I’m feeling that buoyed by today I’m going to go either Needham or Darlington away. Which one?

I took that as a "we mean business" type statement. They came out, played really well, won the game and kept a clean sheet. That's far better than milking it. Yes, I think maybe it's time to move on from all the fist-pumps after a win and commissary handshakes after a defeat, and just let the football do the talking at least until the season is over. A result and performance like today's is the best response, apology or whatever you want to call it. I don't really feel I need a clap for turning up, personally. As for Calum, I don't enjoy listening to him after a win if I'm honest, but if he finds the desire to shut critics up motivational and needs that element of catharsis and slight smugness, I'm happy to accept it as a byproduct of winning matches. It's worth remembering after a week like this that a defeat followed by a win, however good or bad those performances were, is a better return than two draws. If we can average 2 or more points a game, I'll take the odd stinker like last Saturday.

That was a great performance from the lads and very brave from the manager to change so radically in his thinking from a week ago. But the acid test for some of us who may need more convicincng (the anti -Chester FC lads ?) about the managers approach in the longer term , will the difficult match at darlo on Tuesday and then next saturday

Yeah that was strange, I assumed we were doing silence but the announcer didn’t ask for silence or applause so once people started clapping everyone had to join in

I was hugely critical last week amd for previous games. I couldn't make it today but it sounds like an excellent performance. So fair play to all the lads who played. And fair play to Cal for ditching 2 midfielders, who are good players but currently woefully out of form and don't fit into a team together. This needs building on, but a great response.

Post match interview was weird. Claims he's been spat at and had someone try to get at him down the tunnel this season.. IF that happened surely to god a statement would have been put out and the offender/s banned? Been not a peep out of the club about any such incidents. Great result, great performance and much needed change of shape and starting lineup which is what we we've all been asking for!

[br I think a healthy attitude to being a manager is to wake up every morning and accept that some people are always going to be arseholes, accept it and get on with job. Believe in yourself and develop a thick skin. Football has a large percentage of opinionated supporters nothing you can do about it. Petty point scoring in interviews brings you down to their level. Ignore them CM.

Thought we looked a bit ragged at times in the first half, which is maybe to be expected given the amount of changes. Second half was improved and we were aggressive in our press, typified by Peers who hassled them all afternoon and deserved his goal for sure. Plenty of MoTM performances across the team, and think the clean sheet will have done Harrison the world of good after a couple of iffy games.
Would like to see this kind of aggressive approach more often especially at home, gives the crowd something to get behind. Said after the Curzon game that I think Cal's time is up, but for as long as he's here I'll get behind him and the team, and would love him to prove me wrong and get us challenging. Not watched his interview, I rarely do because I find them to be mostly over emotional immature babble - we've been really poor for the last 12 months so yes he'll get some shit, same as what he'd get elsewhere, so better to just rise above it. As for the players not coming over at the end, a bit petty but I'll live....doesn't exactly scream All Of Us though.
