Disappointing result last night at Altrincham, and I would imagine tomorrow's game away at Witton will be a similar test in preparation for Walsall on Saturday. Hopefully we can gain a win tomorrow. Come on you blues! Score: Witton Albion 1-2 Chester FC (Davies, Bell) Attendance: 515 (200 Chester)

Have you ever got a prediction right Rio?

Have you ever got a prediction right Rio? Yes, he went for a 2-0 win against Flint. Probably not in a competitive game though. His youthful optimism let him down in the second half of last season.

They are not predictions, just how many Chester will win by, and unfortunately that is seen less than hen's teeth.

I predicted a 2-0 win against Flint, Hannibal and I got it correct.

I'm just trying to point out that Chester don't win every game as he always predicts. Wortley you should be careful what you accuse people of. It's called banter.

Good to see Shaw get his boots on, we will need him this season. Does anyone know who any of the trialists are ? Another keeper and utility defender and squad looks not too bad.

Hats off to those fans who have attended this evening. I'm still having nightmares about that game at Witton last season and Kane Richards proving he was born with no common sense at all!

Don't the trialists get letters any more? A shot by 'Trialist' could be any one of six players on the pitch for us now!

Quite enjoyed that. Akintunde was really lively up front and should have scored a few more. Dawson and Jones also good.
Pick of the bunch was one of our trialists though, wearing number 2. Played right back first half and then centre mid in the second. Got a big clap when he went off.

Made a last minute decision to go tonight and Im glad I did. First halfs XI, were indeed the more experienced bunch, pick of them, Dawson again. Lucas served Akintunde up with a first half hatrick, shame akky only had the composure to convert on of the three chances. Must do better at one on ones, didn't look like he believed he was going to score, can't pass those up in the national league. Bell didn't make an impression on the game, very much fourth choice striker, Nathan brown might push down to fifth. Nice to Shaw back but not a right mid, looked a bit tubby, and off pace.
Now the good bit, second half. Our youth products made up most of the team, with a rest being trialists. One in particular, smallish CM, who I mistook for Turnbull for sometime, which in itself is of great credit. Shame, as we don't need another CM, he will get pick up. Other trialist mention was the CM that played alongside him, but played RB in first half. Looked decent, whether that's good enough against better opponents is hard to tell. Brown/Waters put in great displays yet again, both looking like younger and even smaller Craig Mahon's. Then there's Hughes, familiar name, same potential. Didn't see the Bala game, only heard of his exploits. The lads has something, the way he moves combined with his stature, makes him one to look out for in the not too distant future.
So all in all, a nice evening. Plus I've always liked Witton

Seems that we played much better tonight at Witton than we did on Tuesday, which is good to hear. Also pleasing that another Youth team player got on the scoresheet in Hellawell. Finally I will be able to see for myself what the new players are like against Walsall, and I can't wait. Hope we put in a good performance on in 2 days time, COYB.

Should we be concerned that in pretty much every game so far it's the youth team and trialists that are outperforming the first team?

Should we be concerned that in pretty much every game so far it's the youth team and trialists that are outperforming the first team? Not necessarily. Those youth players/trialists will be busting a gut for a contract/place in the side. I know it's not right, but the ''first team'' will be tentative in the tackle and treating these games purely as a fitness test, to avoid any potential injury. Hannah and Mahon we can be slightly worried, especially Mahon, he's hardly played in a year and still can't play pre-season. Even the very best players struggle to perform without a decent pre-season behind them.

Wasn't at Bala so not sure, could be. Really slim lad, looks like a marathon runner.
He was pretty good, pass and move stuff, never hoofed. Could be telling that he played 80 minutes instead of the customary 45 everyone else has been getting.

Made some bad mistakes, pretty small build so didn't win much in the air and was pushed off the ball easily.

Has everyone calmed down now that we've won a friendly again?
I can see it being extremely tedious on here if we get off to a relatively slow start.
