Can you search for players by name? What I've done is seen who other clubs are interested in on loan and tried my luck with an attempt to lure them. It's worked for Ethan Jones & he's done well for me. James Alabi has notched 15 goals already for me & our passage into the second round of the FA Cup was pretty straightforward. Beating Brackley 3-1 in a televised game which saw the club get £70,000 for the TV showing & £18,000 for the win. In the second round we are away to Braintree so provides a great chance to reach Round 3 & hopefully get a plum draw. League form is ok too, currently 12th. For a first attempt at the game, I'm enjoying it & doing a lot better than I thought I would! You search for most things (players, staff, clubs, leagues). At the top of the screen where it says what tab you're clicked on (for example "Inbox"), simply click there and delete the text. Then type what you want to search.

First season completed and it went a lot better than I imagined. Was given the target of surviving in the division, reach the first round of the FA Cup and the second round of the FA Trophy. Managed to surpass all of them targets! Finished 11th in the National League (above Wrexham!), reached the 3rd Round of the FA Cup before a 3-0 home defeat to a full strength Stoke City, and I embarked on a journey to the FA Trophy Semi Finals. That journey ended with a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Sutton (who incidentally, lost the Promotion Final to Lincoln - FGR were Champions) James Alabi was the absolute standout player, bagging 42 goals in all competitions (the way I set up, exploiting the flanks, getting the balls whipped in early helped his game) and was therefore voted the National League player of the season. He's unlikely to sign a new contract as the budget just isn't there. Burton are sniffing around Sam Hughes, rumoured to be about to bid £190,000 for him. All in all, it's been a success, I've been offered a new contract at £875 a week and was happy to sign it. Hopefully we can have a good summer, add some quality with whatever funds I have access to, and hopefully push on!

Hopefully we can have a good summer, add some quality with whatever funds I have access to, and hopefully push on! Alabi will still be a good squad player in League One on the game. I sold Sam close season to Barnsley for about that price. Play a hard bargain and you might get about 250k and a nice sell on fee. How's your bank balance looking? If you've managed to make a bit of cash ask the board to increase your youth team budget. That way you will start to see higher potential players break through on the intake day. Another cracking way of making money is to sell a few of these kids on. In my current save I've never really been able to keep hold of a young talent before another bigger club came sniffing around for them. Occasionally you can get the odd wonder kid come through first time of asking, on FM15 I had the best youth team kid I've ever had on any version of FM or Champ Man break through. An AMC/MC called Dominic Irwin, his potential was 4 stars and his current ability was about 2.5 so I stuck him straight in the first team squad and avoided the youth teams. He was still the first name on the team sheet in the Premier League 5 seasons later and was a full England International. Unfortunately the save file corrupted and I lost it all.. Anyway on FM17, fortunately as I'm now a Premier League side I can turn down offers as I see fit. Got 2 cracking 17yr old keepers, a highly rated 16yr old right winger who has had bids from Liverpool, Man City and Man United turned down and 2 highly rated forwards (one of which became youngest ever senior goalscorer in a 8-0agg win in the Europa League play-off). I've not touched the save for a couple of weeks now though. Might have a crack on it later tonight Invest in the youth teams is my advice and make sure you give the talent a run out
