Over recent months the footballing family have faced the harsh reality of life and how difficult it can be to balance the success of a football club both on and off the pitch at National League level.
We’ve witnessed it in all different types of ownership models with various sized supporter bases.
As a club Wrexham AFC remembers its dark days under previous ownership and the help and support we got from clubs across the country to help us get the club back on its feet, help that was vital in our survival bid.
Thirteen miles from the Racecourse our greatest rivals Chester FC are currently fighting off the field challenges and need all the support from the football family they can get to help them as others helped us.
With this in mind we have organised for the bucket collection at the home fixture of Saturday 24th February versus Aldershot Town at the Racecourse to be in aid of their survival bid.
All bucket collection donations are voluntary but we invite supporters to put aside rivalries for the day and do our bit to help Chester FC overcome this challenge by donating whatever amount you can afford, however small, on the way into the stadium.
Your generosity as fans is always amazing and this is another opportunity to demonstrate it.
The derby is always a great atmosphere and what is football without its special games?
The Wrexham AFC versus Chester FC matches are right up there amongst the most special games in British Football and long may it continue.
We can resume rivalries at 12pm on Sunday 11th March as the two sides clash in what promises to be another intense and entertaining 90 minutes of National League football.

This is what football is about at our level .think a few of our wealthier neighbors wouldn't miss a few thousand but it's not what they do

Wow ... I'm welling up!
To be fair that's very magnanimous of them.
Wouldn't be too disappointed if they went up this season.

This just shows that that when there is a crisis we are one footballing family. I would like to thank Wrexham FC for making this generous offer, and our group of volunteers, coordinated by the fundraising working group, who will be rattling the buckets in the dragons den.

This is indeed a brilliant gesture, one which we should remember should Wrexham find themselves in a similar situation in the future.
Maybe we could offer to donate a % of what's collected at the Racecourse to a local Wrexham charity. This way we might find many more willing to donate and actually end up collecting more.

Hope they will be issued with tin hats. Seriously, though, great gesture by our neighbours. I fear it could be a while before we have another derby and both clubs will miss it.

That’s great stuff, respect. Total respect. It certainly shows up one of our posters who refuses to speak to work colleagues if they support Wrexham.

To be fair to the poster concerned we have supporters who are totally against giving anything towards Chester so not sure how much will be raised. I have already made a small donation - fan owned clubs and all that.

Could do with some grateful blues to reply to counter it.

Would you help Wrexham, I know I wouldn’t. So if you were dieing and your life depended on a transplant and the only available donor was a Wrexham fan I presume your principles would turn down the offer. Some people really need to get a grip on what is important in life instead of wasting their time and energy on hatred of other people.

My utmost respect goes to the goats for arranging this. As much as I dislike them most of the time, this is a superb gesture and just shows that we are one football family. I would hope that the Wrexham fans will put our rivalry aside next Saturday and chip in as we could receive a healthy amount given their gates. Well played Wrexham AFC, lovely touch.

I have already made a small donation - fan owned clubs and all that. Suspect we will be lucky to get £20 ! So perhaps we shouldn't be so fawning in our gratitude. Afterall this club's fans are only too quick gloat that we let our club die already. Perhaps we would be better being more dignified, professional and concentrate on our own vital efforts rather than be distracted by an empty gesture from a couple of goats fans.

Well, it's already at £25 from money I've collected from two Wrexham fans who just handed me the cash for our funds. One even joined the CFU. To call it an empty gesture is to spectacularly miss the point. It's one fan owned club offering to help another in need. Whatever is collected will be welcome and I for one, will be very grateful.

Cheers boyos, big respect for this. Looking forward to keeping going long enough to hear the "going down" and "going bust in the morning" chants at the Goatcourse! 😂

Given that you were highly supportive of the failed McCarthy regime which directly resulted in the current crisis and potential demise of the Club I am not surprised you are very grateful.

Can't stand Wrexham from a football point of view as I'm sure they can't stand us. But I absolutely respect ANY and EVERY lower League fan for standing by their Club instead of sitting in front of a TV watching the Premiershite.
Supporting Chester wouldn't be what it is without the odd cross-border Derby here and there. Beating them in any game is such a high that very little else in life can give us true fans. I thank any Wrexham fan that donates to help us as I respect any Chester fan that donated to help them. Life wouldn't be the same if any of our clubs disappeared.
