Southport interested in Harry White according to Dave Powell. Money bags port eh? I wonder how long that will last, regarding Harry White, i'm not sure he'd be offered a new deal here.

Not sure how I feel about Mahon staying on, probably in my top three players we’ve had since reformation, but can we be relying on an injury prone player particularly with the budget we have? Only time will tell,I hope he does get back to his old best and who knows he might thrive in the league

His goals and assists record over the past two seasons has been very poor, albeit he's been injured a lot. I don't think Bignot really rated him - all too often he beats a couple of players then hits a poor cross. Talks about a fresh start in the Chron interview, so time for him to deliver.

Blues fans' obsession with Mahon is a bit weird. Perhaps what best sums this up is that at the January meeting, about half an hour after we found out the club may go bust in a matter of weeks, a couple of fans started ranting at Laurence Kirby about why Mahon wasn't getting in the team.

Mahon can be very good on his day, I remember in our 2-2 away at Tranmere, and the home leg, their defenders were frightened to tackle him, backing off him.
I think he needs a bit of coaching, and encouraged more to run at defenders / goal rather than across the park, hopefully earning a few penalties when defenders guess him wrong
As for goals though, he doesn't have a strong enough shot on him, something we've lacked as a team for several seasons.

I'd say Craig Mahon has been hampered by injury, but equally hampered by successive managers draining the confidence clean out of him. Particularly Bignot.
I really do hope that Bernard and Jono can build him back up again. When he's happy and on form you would be hard pressed to find anyone better in the Conference North.

That has made me laugh because only at Chester would we get that scenario.

You're right - no doubt he can beat players but too often it's in areas where it doesn't hurt the opposition. He needs to be more direct rather than cutting inside all the time. As for his shooting, I've posted about that before - it's primary school stuff.

Mahon has contributed very little over the past three seasons and I see no reason to expect anything off him next season. A one trick pony and time for him to move on, IMO.

Southport interested in Harry White according to Dave Powell. For what? Serving the drinks at the tea bar? He isn't any use to anyone as a footballer.

Someone playing in attacking role like him and getting on for 200 games should have 50 or 60 club goals. How many has he got?

Connor Rawlinson joins Port Vale having left TNS. Was he not a Chester City trainee in our final 2009/10 season?

God I’m starved of football news about my club I’m desperate for news of signing to get excited about, I have just cut the grass and the hedges and that’s all I can find to talk about on a football forum. I need my Chester football fix and I want it now,I am not interested in what’s happening at other clubs I need something to happen or I’m going to wash the car.😀

Thanks Avfo we can always rely on you, translated it means I love he club but if you want me to move on then you need to make me an offer or I will turn up for training and see my contract out.

Say Ross is on a grand a week, if we pay him 50 percent to go then that leaves enough to bring in one part timer, so are we any better off? I would be tempted to call his bluff and say if you want to go, go but not with a ridiculous ( for the club) pay off or turn up fit and earn your money. If he was to stay and score regularly he would be an asset and may in turn earn him a more lucrative contract elsewhere going forward. What won't happen, and you can't blame Ross, is for him to just go and free up enough for 2 or 3 decent part timers.

Take it from this that an offer from Southport isn't forthcoming, and he's happy to hold us to ransom (rightly or wrongly) until we pay him off. I think somebody will come in for him, but they won't be keen to offer the silly wages we're paying him. Ideally a club that signs him may be persuaded to take on his full wage in the absence of a transfer fee being demanded, but we will probably be facing the burden of contributing maybe 25% of his salary at his new club.
