Yes Johnny was certainly a true blue. R.I.P.
Seem to remember him getting quite a bad head injury 20 or 25 years ago as a result of football violence.

Believe it or not it was 42 years ago at Tranmere 1st game of the season but true to form signed himself out of hospital and was back at Sealand road the following Wednesday for a league cup tie against Swansea albeit in the seats a true true blue indeed

It was outside Rock Ferry Station and the yobs threw bricks at our supporters going back to the station. Sadly, Johnny was underneath one of them. I was with him until the ambulance arrived. It was a miracle that he recovered so well. I'm sure it was more like 40 years ago, though.

RIP John - Top Blue and legendary fan - condolences to Will, Jenny and the rest of the family
At Sealand Road I used to stand near him and the BBC - Beer Belly Crew! I remember one day when a match was going through a quiet spell and a shout came from the back of the stand 'Oi Holliday, you fat b*stard!' Johnny turns and clocks the shouter and replies 'I'd rather be fat and happy than a skinny miserable c***, like you!'. Classic riposte!
Have it large on the other side Johnny!!
