I don’t think any Chester fans believe the conspiracy theories, people are just getting frustrated that they aren’t getting to see any football. It’s not anyone’s fault & nobody is to blame but that doesn’t mean it isn’t really annoying.

I just think that the continual over reaction to this is a joke, the flood was what a week ,not three weeks ago, we’ve been told from the club through media outlets/Facebook/Twitter/here etc. about the situation and where we are and let’s be honest it should be fairly obvious no insurer or tradesman will touch it until deemed safe. The club should be applauded for its communication and efforts to sort this out, it’s not long ago people were criticising the club for no communication. We are all frustrated but people just need to back off, a few games have been cancelled in a short space of time with full league and opponent approval so nothing untoward, ways to switch venues have been explored for a number of games but has proved unsuccessful it’s no ones fault but Mother Nature. The ground will be fixed in as long a time period as it takes in a time frame that will be driven by safety which should always be the driver.

Thing is this if it was Liverpool or Man Utd would I have taken this long? I don’t think so. Not blaming anyone but carnt help thinking it’s probably the insurance company dragging their heels a bit Tbf you're quoting clubs with multiple millions in their bank accounts. Any issues with damage they can afford to pay it out of their own pockets. We don't have that luxury I would have to disagree somewhat I still think any large clubs would still claim on their insurance, typical Chester FC we always get shafted!

You’re not wrong, I just think that if you expect people not to voice their frustration & disappointment then you’re mad.
I can only think of one poster that I’ve seen actually criticise the club over this & even that was before most of the information was released.

I genuinely feel sorry for you. 3 postponements at the start of the season, missing out on Saturday, Bank Holiday crowds etc. Not to mention the fixture backlog.
Having being through similar troubled times, we hope your problem is resolved soon.
In the mean time, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all Blues looking to see a game, and crowd, on Saturday, to 'The Goatcoarse Racecourse on Saturday v Bromley

One small crumb of mercy over this is, We are all very lucky it happened when it did and we have the ST money still fresh in the bank to tide us over, imagine if this had of happened in the middle of the season.
We should also remember that this rain storm that hit the club has postponed a few football matches and has given a few people something else to try and find to do on a Saturday afternoon/Tuesday Evening People in the Indian region of Kerala would love to have our problem right now instead of their own, me thinks.

Why wouldn’t they? “Sorry roof had a leak so we aren’t paying you this month.” 🤔😂 I'm sure he was relating to the lack of income from the postponed home matches. As a fan-owned club it's crucial. What's likely to happen, though, is we continue to pay our bills and staff wages but end up eating into a warchest - as was the case last season which led to the crisis January meeting. Of course it won't come to that stage this time around!

Of course it won't come to that stage this time around! If the board ever needed to touch the warchest again id hope that they would be decent enough to inform us about it first. I know at the end of the day the board are also fans like us but I can't even begin to say how enraged I was following the news last year that the warchest was basically spent and the board had allowed it and not informed us until it was almost to late.

We absolutely do have fans who believe the conspiracies, and are happy to contribute a few of their own. You realise Devachat is pretty rational if you spend a bit of time on Facebook and Twitter.

I’ve just been reading through some of the comments on Facebook and Twitter, and I honestly can’t quite believe that some of those people class themselves as Chester FC supporters. These so-called ‘’supporters’’ really need to open there eyes a little instead of hammering down ridiculous assumptions.

No I don’t think so tbf, I am in a Chester group but I rarely see anything from it & what there is is usually pretty banal.

The official club FB and Twitter accounts are full of tin hat types to be fair. Just look at some of the replies to the news items.

Underrated album if you ask me, their version of "Iam the music man" to close the album is up there with Champagne Supernova for last tracks.

The only good thing about the fb page is that the old DC1 moan of 'hiding behind your username' was tosh - people spout all sorts with their name, picture and family photos to hand.

I think the thing is that on here, if people say something ridiculous or unfair, they get told they’re being stupid. On Facebook and Twitter, people are drawn to extreme and irrational views, and it’s hard/pointless to counterbalance them. If you react or comment on them, social media sites simply view that as ‘engagement’ and decree that the comment must be an important or valuable one. Social media is a radicaliser in a way.

We are also part time are we not so the wage bill is not going to be like last year. I agree that salaries and bills have to be paid but this flood was a week ago not a month or three month, a week. Yes we have lost potential income on these fixtures I again assume this may be covered by the insurance claim? If not then we have lost some potential money but it is what it is, those games will be replayed so not all is lost and I cannot believe that salaries and bills won’t be paid one week after the event. Granted if this was a month or so down the road I’d be concerned. The club have been up front and honest about this from the moment it happened let’s hope we get a prompt resolution then we can all get back to the usual shite on here or football.
