Happy anniversary everyone. The day Sir Jon McCarthy performed the miracle of all miracles and led Chester to the greatest result ever.
People call him Jon, I call him Jesus.
The following day the lay preacher who stands outside JD Sports proclaimed McCarthy was the Second Coming.

Jesus turned water into wine, Moses parted the Red Sea, and McCarthy won at aldershot away.

Happy Saint McCarthy Day fellow blues. I’m using this as my inspiration for a good result today.

There have been some phenomenal sporting achievements in the past. The Miracle of Medina Kasparov versus Deep Blue Boom Boom Boris Becker Aldaniti and Champion
but do they surpass what locals in Rushmoor still refer to as The Thaumaturge of Aldershot

Maybe we could get a flag sorted for when we play Southport, if he’s still there by then?

I went to Aldershot. In the first half we were absolutely battered - they hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions from memory, and it was like watching a non-league team play a Premiership team in a FA Cup game at times. Second half we got a slightly soft penalty at the start of the half and played OK after that - could have gone either way. So I never quite got the bigging up of that performance that JM then came out with - if more Blues had been there they would have seen that we could have been four down by half time...

That happened a few times last season, Hartlepool was another which somehow ended 1-1

The anniversary is actually tomorrow.
Don’t tarnish this momentous celebration by getting the date wrong.

Apparently the lay preacher outside JD Sports is doing a special sermon on this modern day miracle. See you all there.

Apparently the lay preacher outside JD Sports is doing a special sermon on this modern day miracle. See you all there. I have asked my barber to do me a ‘McCarthy’ cut this morning (to be fair I’m not that far off anyway these days) and am now on my way to the Recreation Ground, where I will rub my scalp against the crossbar that blessed us three or four times that day. This pilgrimage should henceforth be undertaken every August 26 by all Chester fans, with the cranial cleansing of the crossbar a ritual representing good fortune and McCarthian wisdom.
