My favourite ever loanee is Mike Conroy. A 12-year old me was at Rotherham’s old Millmoor ground one Tuesday night a week before Christmas 1998 to see his centre forward masterclass in a 4-2 win.

My favourite loanee ever was Clive Wilson in the early 80s. We seemed to have him for about half a season from Man City and was absolute quality. As for McBurnie, he’s a decent enough player and nothing against the lad, but he was only here 5 minutes. Plus, he’s a bad Tory so difficult to like.

He was here for 5 minutes, but you could see how much it meant to him to score / help the team. Why wouldn't you be pleased for the lad? Happy for him yes. One of our own? Please. Was here for all of 5 minutes. He was never one of our own

I can't be the only fan who takes every opportunity going to point out the most tenuous of connections to Chester that affect the top level of the game. Any time someone mentions Ian Rush, Lee Dixon or Jonny Walters I'm in there. During the 2010 World Cup all I talked about was Leo Bertos. You can't even mention Debenhams without me piping up that we once won something called the Debenhams Cup.
Damn right I'll be telling all the Kopites in work tomorrow that they have an ex-Chester player to thank for denying Man Utd a win at the weekend!

I’d like to think he has a small piece of Chester in his heart. Not forgetting either that the reason he wears his socks down without shin pads is because we couldn’t afford the tapes when he played for us!

Deffo not one of our own
We kick started his Career
Bit harsh on the players who were one of our own and have come through the Youth and gone on to play Football League

And that Debenham's cup final over 2 legs remains clear in my mind and one of, if not the best, matches I have witnessed a Chester side in! Having to get over an early Port Vale goal at home we had our backs against the wall. I remember a large monster of a man (Port Vale fan) shouting out racist abuse every time Bob Delgado thwarted their forwards. So pleasing to see him silenced as we went on to win. I believe from memory I am Howat came on a sub and scored the winner. Halcyon days for me. A year at Chester College completing a leisurely PGCE, watching Chester and generally having a good time before returning to London and working in a tough comprehensive that made Rock Ferry High seem like a haven....

Primary school headteacher in Shrewsbury these days. For real? That's pretty impressive if so. Yes he didn't have the final pass or shot but was enjoyable to watch until that point when he passed! For those few that recall Alan Groves...very similar. Both seemed destined for better things but didn't make it. Flattered to deceive i think the term is.

Eh, Groves went on to have a good league career before his untimely death at the age of 29.

Oli got the only goal against West Ham tonight to move Sheffield United up to 5th. Ex-Blue in the Champions League next year?

That jacket is more offensive than the “wanker” gesture.
