I thought Zack looked good last night and added some height into our attack, is he definitely going out on loan? as maybe he would fit nicely with the other strikers and give us another option up front?

He did ok with very little support. He looks a different option from our other strikers. Obviously Cal doesn't think he's ready. We've lost Willoughby, Dudley and Stephenson, who were all experienced and fairly strong physically. We've gained Goodson and Burton who are both young less physical players, who presumably are better with the ball at their feet. We look even less physically strong this season, than last. That might be a problem. We've saved some wages with moving those three players on, along with Kenyon. Presumably that has gone on Taylor, Whitehouse and Caton, and the two young strikers. Must admit I was hoping for another experienced player or two coming in.

Can’t remember where I heard it from (might be the seals podcast?) that he’s had everything agreed to go on loan but there’s a backlog at the FA (shock!) so the club can’t announce it yet as it isn’t official

Hope so. I’ve been calling for his involvement all year!

Hope so. I’ve been calling for his involvement all year! Hope I'm wrong but from what I had seen previously he didn't look ready or up to our current level, hopefully his loan spells have done him good and I hope to be proved wrong.

Hope so. I’ve been calling for his involvement all year! To be fair I thought he looked a little out of his depth against players of similar age but better quality. Happy to see him givens go as we do seem very light I forward areas, plenty of players but lack experience.

Hopefully he's on the bench on Saturday

He’s not ready yet, but a loan or two down the line will prepare him for this level at least. A really nice lad as well, by all accounts.

As expected, Zack’s loan move to Caernarfon now confirmed.

Is that a good enough level to bring the lad on,never watched Welsh league stuff so I genuinely have no clue about it.

On a par with bottom half NLN/top half Northern Premier League to be honest.

Currently playing for Caernarfon at Colwyn Bay live on S4C, with Joe Smith in goal for Bay. A few other players on the field who have been with Chester during their careers.

Hope for Joe Smith’s sake he doesn’t become the fall guy for the heavy defeat Colwyn Bay have just suffered. They’ve signed another young goalkeeper on loan from Stoke this week so he’s certainly going to have competition for his place there.

Can’t be a coincidence I’m afraid

Aye was going to say Ashton Athletic finished bottom of their league with a ridiculous goals against column. Tough for young Joe, but the point of these loan spells out in men's football is to improve the young players.
Only one game in to the Cymru Premier season - higher standard than where he was last year. Mind you, I expected the Bay to carry on where they left off last season after they properly romped to the Cymru North title.

Smith looks a bit small to be a keeper to me. Not many small keepers go on to make it, and even the ones who do (Pickford, Kepa etc) are clearly disadvantaged at times. IMO a keeper needs to be physically imposing, and confident in coming out to smash some defenders out of the way. He's doing the right thing going out on loan to see how he copes, but I can't see him making the grade for us.

On an aside, and I appreciate this is no relevance to his fledgling football career, but Jiff is always great with the kids at the Community Trust schools/goalkeeper camps.
