Load of shite there anyway. Haven’t forgotten when they went cap In hand during covid and pretending they were on the verge of closing and set up a just giving to scrape even more money from people.

A Zoo Keeper is a Wrexham fan, I don't see this big deal tbh. It's not like the Zoo are going out of their way to support them.

The cynic in me suspects this is being done with the motive of getting Rob and Ryan to visit and meet the penguins named after them, so the zoo can then lap up all the publicity.
I’m not surprised sadly to see the zoo going down that route rather than supporting the Chester community. Have they ever had an advertising board at the ground or done any sponsorship for the club? I can’t recall them doing so.

They sponsored one of our games last season I think too.
Just a PR stunt isn't it - piggybacking onto a zookeeper naming some penguins after their favourite team, but shame the zoo as an organisation aren't a lot more invested in the city's own club.

I'm not gonna get rattled by some penguins, but to see them supporting that lot rather than their own club is a disgrace.

I really wouldn't get worked about this - they name new animals all sort of weird and wonderful names every time a new animal is born.
The sort of non-story with celebrity links which fills up newspaper websites these days. Quite refreshing that it's not Real Housewives of Cheshire for a change.

Meh, penguins are stupid animals anyway. Calum the Seal hopefully introduced soon. Why are penguins stupid? Just a stunt to get them pair to come and visit them and raise some awareness. Yeah it is annoying they're not doing much with our club but not many people do care about our club on the arse end of an industrial estate next to the local tip. We're out of sight, out of mind as far as the city goes. Leads back into a ground that is more accessible and in sight leads to more exposure

Worse than this - I went to the zoo with the family on Saturday as we were away at Banbury, and saw a family all wearing their Goats shirts. Weird as they were at home on Saturday (5-5 draw), yet an entire family decided they'd rather spend their money in our city. Funny.

You sadly see more Wrexham shirts than any Chester in town….

Try getting tickets for a Wrexham match for a family if you are not season ticket holders - you should be pleased they elected to spend money in Chester thus contributing to the local economy. Anyway - why get worked up over it - a Wrexham supporting keeper and a zoo hopefully making money out of R&R. I wish the zoo well.

Something to investigate perhaps.

If they spent five minutes on Deva-Chat you can see why they might not bother....

Nah, to be fair I very much doubt that Chester Zoo need to advertise and sponsor our club to increase their reach - how many tens of thousands of members do they have, nearly a million visitors a year, multi-million pound organisation etc. Would’ve just been a nice linkup supporting a local community club is all.

I can see it now thousands of Wrexham fans paying 35 quid each to go and see Ryan & Rob swimming around their enclosure . Kerching for the zoo , disappointment for the fans, all Humboldt penguins look the bloody same.

Another weird link is that the word "penguin" must be the only Welsh word to find place in the worldwide English language.
Pen = head gwyn = white
From the 16th Century.

Penguins don't have white heads though. The word "flannel" comes from Welsh as well. Ironic given our friends down the road have probably never used one.
