Am I looking at this too closely ? Around 9.50 in Calum says “with 14 more game for me to go at this club”

Wouldn’t blame him for going with our toxic fanbase.

Wouldn’t blame him for going with our toxic fanbase. Our fan base is no more or less toxic than at any other club with a decent sized crowd imo. It's just that we're closer to our club and hear all the noise. I wouldn't imagine the fans at many clubs are positive. Even City fans moan about stuff.

It just didn’t sound right

I do get a bit tired of him trying to control every opinion in the stadium and then lecturing us about the negative ones in his media output. Not exactly lifting this 'dark cloud' he constantly refers to.
Take the 'if you don't think we played well against Peterborough, you absolutely know nothing' as an example. Controlling opinions. Why is he arsed? Just get on with it and focus on the 99% of the fanbase who are desperate for us to succeed. Also, don't buy the idea that this fanbase is any different to any other similar sized club. There's always cranks and there's always hysteria when teams don't win games. We're really not unique in having some weirdos on our Facebook page etc.
And this is coming from one of the 99%. I love Cal and I know he'll get us where we need to be, but he is getting hard to listen to.

Yeah, I think when you complain about the fanbase it’s really just because it’s the one you know inside out and hear every dissenting voice and put more on it than it’s actually worth.
If Cal goes on to progress beyond us I’ve no doubt there will be a day he looks and yearns for just having a few dissenting voices like he has now. 99% of managers can only dream about the amount of credit Cal has with his fanbase overall. Most are a few bad results away from the sack, Cal isn’t, he’s sitting on one of the biggest cushions going here.
For that comment, I thought he was referring to the remainder of the season and what he was going to do, rather than anything about his future as it goes.

When we moan about some of our fans being weird and overly negative, it’s ultimately because we love the club and so are obviously bound to be more bothered by, and more alert to, bad opinions we hear from our own supporters than by other supporters; there are surely plenty of sides with far more toxic fanbases than us, but why would we care about them, or even be aware of them for that matter? With Cal, I’m sure the reasoning is much the same - it’s only because he cares so much about us, and is so invested in his work here, that he gets so vexed when he hears dissenting voices. With that being said, though, I wholeheartedly agree that he needs to learn when to tone things down, especially if he has ambitions to manage bigger clubs where the fans will no doubt be even less patient.

Calum is the most popular manager we've had since at least Neil Young, and deservedly so. I also think if he takes the more rational criticism on board, he doesn't disagree with it - a point midweek wasn't a bad result in isolation, but we should've won last weekend so that made it a disappointing/frustrating week overall.
Perhaps he's someone who uses criticism for self-motivation and likes shutting people up. If he takes us up he can call us what we wants for all I care, I just worry that if he goes through a serious sticky patch and continues to be this confrontational, he's not going to get the patience he deserves.

Finally got around to listening to this. Thought Calum came across really well and passionate.
